Termonfeckin Village Design Statement
TREES

Trees are integral to the character of the village whether as individual specimens, in groups or in hedgerows.

New development should respect existing trees and their removal should be resisted.  Many of the largest trees in the village are now reaching full maturity and a programme of supplementary planting should be encouraged.

AGRICULTURE

The village has traditionally had a dependency on farming and agriculture and agricultural land is highly valued.

Non-agricultural development outside the settlement, or on open fields within the settlement which are not currently within the defined development frontages, should not be permitted.

HERITAGE

There are many old and interesting features highly valued by residents but without any special protection in planning terms, eg. The bridge, the churches, the castle, the Holy Wells.

Special care and consideration must be given to developments near or adjacent to historical features to preserve their condition and status. Developments should not detract from these treasures.
Baltray Road. A number of dwellings are unobtrusively located, screened behind mature trees and vegetation.
