67. Bas-relief or engraving on stones of “dancers” at Monte Alban. The significance of these men in their strange postures, with unusual gestures and physical features that recall the jaguar motif in Olmec art, has been a point of speculation. There has been a variety of interpretations: dancers, a gallery showing different kinds of illnesses, a strange sexual cult, prisoners on their way to be sacrificed, and others.
