What's new in the World of Nick? |
The DQGC is more than just a silly vote, it's an experiment in gender relations. Looking over the results, I noticed a significant discrepancy in the people being voted for by us guys as opposed to the girls. I initially expected more variation from the guys (only because they couldn't vote for themselves), but that wasn't the case.
I won't be revealing who voted for who. That would cause so much trouble that I was very, very tempted to publicly reveal all the votes (even though I said I wouldn't). The Nick is a good guy, though. I've taken the liberty of breaking down the votes for you.
By target, I mean the person who received
the vote. If mentioned, an invalidated vote is one that was
either left blank, illegible, or otherwise uncountable. I am not
counting mistakes, revotes, and people who went back and fixed a mistake,
else this number would be much larger. The left hand side
refers to the target while the right hand side refers to the number of
votes. Each total is represented by X:Y. X is the total number
of votes received. Y is a converted score, with the first place slot
being weighed more heavily than the second and third.
Here are the results of the GUYS ONLY.

Note that the guys and the girls both gave out approximately the same number of votes. However, the girls voted for about twice as many people while the guys constricted their votes amongst the same girls. Note that the guys gave the number one girl 27% of their votes while the girls gave their number one girl 11%. The contrast to note here is that the girls voted rather evenly while the guys favored one special girl. I should probably also point out that Amberlie did not vote herself first but most of the girls did.
What can be inferred from these results? I suppose you can draw some conclusions between what the guys are looking for as opposed to the girls. What I thought was interesting was how Danielle blew away the competition amongst the guys and Amberlie placed second, yet Amberlie ranked first amongst the girls but Danielle lagged far behind.
I dare not state any conclusions; draw your own.
What else... if look between the guys and the girls, you'll notice that everyone received approximately the same number of votes. It seems that everyone agreed on the same basics. The best I can figure is that all the guys, on average, voted for Danielle whereas none of the girls voted for her. Instead, they spread their votes out.
Again, I'm not going to draw any conclusions.
However, this time I only don't want to think about it.
