Please note - I am not asking for any "free handouts". I am honestly hoping that someone may be able to help me as I have helped others in the past. If you can make a dollar donation now and would like me to pay you back in a year or two once i'm on my feet i'll do that. If you'd rather I take your donation amount next year and give it to someone else in need to keep the cycle going I'll do that as well. What ever you'd like me to do to either repay you or repay karma once I am able to do so, please just let me know. | ||||||||||||||
When I was 8 years old I wanted to be a teacher. The dream has never left me. Throughout my school life I carried a GPA of 3.9 to 4.0. I started collecting papers and projects and ideas so that when I was a teacher I would have so many ways to teach children. When I was finally able to go to college I looked for the cheapest school I could find in my area, San Diego State University, luckily they are known for being an elementary educators school. Throughout my college years I began collecting information on becoming a foster parent after I started teaching. If you ever listen to the news or financial information you know that teachers are one of the lowest paid professions. And if you know anything about being a foster parent you know that you end up spending hundreds of your own dollars a month to helping an innocent child live a normal life. And this is exactly what I want to do with my life. I have started the year long process of getting my credentials to teach, however it is recommended that you do not have a job during this time. So how do I live a year with no job and no income? I've tried getting loans but my mother's income is too high and so I have been denied (despite the fact that she had not claimed me as a dependant since I was in high school and she does not support me.) I have tried to get scholarships and grants but have been unable to find any that I qualify for. I've been able to pay for the first part of my tuition, however I still owe 972 dollars PLUS my books before the programs ends. I've worked two jobs during my college "career", an office job and waitressing. I lived paycheck to paycheck due to the costs of my education, however I was able to make it this far. I do not have a car payment (instead I have a car that's on it's last wheels but completely paid off) and I don't live with any special perks like 200 channels of cable or going out to eat or drink every weekend. I also spent a year volunteering for Stand Up For Kids which is a program for homeless kids that are living on the streets. (I'm not trying to get sympathy but to show you that I have been trying my best to live up to the standards I have set for myself in regards to helping others.) Basically I'm looking for help from any one in the world who may have a dollar, or even a quarter to spare. I am looking to raise money that I can use to help pay for the rest of my tuition for this credential program and also money that I can use to help raise my first foster child next year. I am asking for ANY help you are able to provide - even if you have a bond for 10 dollars or you found a dollar in your pocket and are willing to help a woman reach her dream of educating children and helping children. You can click on my links to my thoughts about foster parenting and teaching. If you'd like to have updates on how I'm doing and updates next year on how my students or my foster child is I'll be more than willing to share all that information with you. Everyone deserves a chance to reach their goals and sometimes some people just need a little extra help getting there. I'm hoping that since my career and life plans are to help others in a major way that someone may be willing to help me at this time. Please consider making a small donation that could impact more than just one life. |
