| Shido, is a vampire whose memories rest with his maker and former lover, Cain. Together with his little urban faery, Guni, his blood sponsor, Yayoi, and his adorable office assistant, Riho, he rids the night of the terrible demons known as the "breed". But his maker, Cain, has come back and taunts him with his memories. |
| Night 1, A Visitor in the Night: A breed haunts the bay area searching for a body to posses. Shido, Yayoi, and Guni are hot on the case while Riho's blood boils at Shido and Yayoi's close relationship. This is all work as usual for Shido, but the first of many nightmares of his astranged lover Cain interupt his work. Riho, in an attempt to get closer to Shido, investigates the bay bridge accidents on her own. She gets in over her head as she becomes the breeds victim. In order to save her, Shido must reveal her vampiric nature to her. To all of their surprise, considering her parents were killed by the breed, Riho comes back to work the next day, not at all scared of Shido. GRADE: A- (92%) |
| Night 2, Terms of Stardom: An actress is voluntarily posessed by breed to remain the greatest actress of her time, but her understudy has a different plan. She convinces the breed to posess her instead. However the trade off wasn't as glorious as she thought and she has deep regrets for the decision she made. Shido and his companions are on the case. GRADE: C (75%) |
| Night 3, A Man on the Run: An officer who was shot in the head becomes posessed by the breed. While Shido and Riho are coming home from a movie they stumble across him. Shido is in hot pursuit, but the continuous visions of Cain distract him. Ironically, the officers fiancee, Megumi, runs to detective Shido for help. However Shido and the officers fiancee have different plans for the fate of Taki, the officer. Just as Shido is about to slay the breed she stops him and runs off with Taki. In the end the police fire upon him and kill him, and Shido is confronted by Cain and told to leave this case. The Golden Dawn is approaching. GRADE: B- (83%) |
| Night 4, The Golden Dawn: Taki's fiance is pregnate!! Could this baby be part breed? Cain confronts Shido again and tells him that the cross-breeding of Breed and Human signifies the Golden Dawn. The NOS (The agency that Yayoi works for) is on the case and kidnaps the young woman. Shido and the gang are to her rescue. As Shido grabs the woman and escapes his vampiric identity is revealed and he has no choice but to flee. This leaves Yayoi in trouble for being so close to a vampire. Cain confronts Shido and Megumi, and tries to take Shido back as his lover, but Megumi interupts. Angered that his lover will not come back to him he reveals that he has Riho with him. He slashes her chest open and leaves her dying on the floor. This leads to a battle between Shido and Cain. The battle is taken outside where Shido eventually decapitates Cain. Quickly Shido runs back to Riho and as she awakes she has one request. To take her blood. His love for her causes her to do something he would never do for anyone else, take her blood and make her a vampire... GRADE: A+ (98%) This episode is very thick with nudity and sex. This episode is not meant for the young or easily offended. |
| Night 5, Medicine for the Dead: Shunichi, a friend and former classmate of Riho, misses Riho's presence at school. Meanwhile a new drug is being passed around that causes people to pass out leaving a prime opportunity tor a breed to snatch a body. Shido, Yayoi, and Guni are on the case. Riho goes off on her own to adjust to her new life and new form. Her friends know something is wrong, but can't understand. Shortly after Shunichi discovers the truth he becomes victom of a breed. This time, Riho is the hero and saves her dear friend Shunichi from certain death.. Though Shunichi doesn't care that she is a vampire she feels that she must leave him, for they do not walk under the same sky. This episode has some touching scens between Shido and Riho and it also gives some insight to Riho's former human life. GRADE: A- (92%) |
| Night 6, The Bottom of a Well: Shido becomes stuck at the bottom of a well with a breed and a young girl. The young girl brings back memories of his life befoer he became a vampire. How he was suppose to study abroad and return to his mother(?)( In English he says it is his mother, but in Japanese they make no comment of their relationship), and his little sister(?) (In both languages the woman is the childs mother, but they make no reference to her being Shido's sister. Also something I noticed is that in English Shido refers to the woman as "Mother" but in Japanese he refers to her as "Your Mother"). But before he has a chance to Cain changes him. Shido returns home to find his town plauged by a disease and dying,, including his sister (?). In order to save her life he must turn her into a vampire as well ((in a very Claudia from Interview with the Vampire moment, curly blonde hair and all.). The girl misses her mother greatly and runs out into the sun to end her life. GRADE: B+ (88%) |
| Night 7, A Mother and Her Son: Riho discovers a little boy who is not aloud to be anywhere near pets due to his mothers wishes. Simultaniously ther have been cases of animals that have been mutilated near the boys apartment complex. Shido, Riho, Yoyoi and Guni are hot on the case. GRADE: C (75%) |
| Night 8, A Soul Lost in the Darkness: The Akiba family murders the one of their own family members to gain control over the estate. But as their backs are turned the victim simply gets gets up and walks away. Young Asami, racked with guilt, hire Shido to find her grandfather, the murder victim. GRADE: C (75%) |
| Night 9, Someone Else's Face: Shido, a wandering vampire, stumbles into a town filled with crime. Upon arrival he finds an Urban Faery by the name of Guni. Though Shido is quite annoyed by her presence she insist upon fallowing him everywhere, including to a hotel run by two sisters, Kasumi, who has a gorgeous face and an even more beautiful personality, and Yayoi, whose face is wrapped in bandages and a soul as cold as ice. As children a terrible accident occured that ended up destroying their house, killing their parents, and damaging little Yayoi's face. (For more information see the character summory on Yayoi) . Throughout the city people have been found murdered with their faces torn off. Shido gets involved in the whole ordeal and hunts for the breed who has been commiting such monsterous acts, asuming it is one of the sisters. But which one? This episode is wonderful because it tells the story of how Yayoi, Guni, and Shido first met, and all of Yayoi's complicated history. GRADE: A- (92%) |
| Night 10, Tears of an Angel: Angel or Night Breed? Just what is this creature that has "befriended" an innocent little girl. The poor girl believes the boy to be an angel but little does she know that this creature is sucking her energy at ever possible moment. Shido must stop this breed before he drains the girl dry.. But the task isn't an easy one as the girl believe herself to be in love GRADE: B (85%) |
| Night 11, A Witch in the Forest: Years ago Shido wandered into a town abandoned by all but one, a young blind woman waiting for her fiancee to return from war. However even this little town is not far enough from Cain. Also this small village isn't far enough away from the terrible breed. The poor blind woman is possesed. GRADE: D (65%) Very boring and has little to do with the series. |
| Night 12, Eternal Darkness: People meet and People part. Shido never expected the young girl that he took in after her parents were lost, Riho, to remain with him for so long, let alond become a vampire. She confronts him with the question "What sort of relationship do we have?" He replies "Parent and Child.. or comrades.." That wasn't the exact answer she was looking for, but she loves him and keeps in inside. But after Riho's parents dead bodies are possesed by the breed and Shido must kill them, her heart changes. Riho becomes so angry that she eventually kills Guni and Yayoi!! Shido must do what is right and kill her as well, but before his sword hits her he awakens to find that this was only a nightnare brought upon by Cain, who informed him that he is in fact immortal and even the decapitation didn't kill him. Cain gives Shido one last kiss and once more disappears into the shadows. In the end Shido is once more confronted with the question by Riho "What sort of relationship do we have?" And he tells her "Close buddies I think." and pulls her close as they lie in the coffin together. GRADE: A+ (100%) BEST EPISODE!! |
