My first car was a Lime Green(original pain) 1971 Dodge Charger. The first time I saw the car I wanted it. The shape of the car just hooked me along with the color. It has a 340 4 barrel out of a 73 Challenger attached to a 3 speed automatic planting the power with some large rear tires. We bought the car for $1500 and had to do quite a bit of work to it before I could drive it. We replaced the intake gasket, had the carbarator rebuilt, put a new set of headers and exhaust on the car, had the alignment fixed, put in some new carpet and replaced all of the tires. Later on we got the vinal top replaced along with a little body work, had the front vinal seat recovered and finnally I put a radio in the car. Because the cops didn't like out is sounded though, we had to ditch the glass packs for a couple of mufflers. I really enjoyed the car even though the brakes weren't the best, the heater didn't work that well, there was no air conditioner, wet traction was horrible and the head lights where dim. I loved being known as teh buy with the green car. We sold it to a guy in Dallas who then sold it to a buy who came out to Texas Tech to go to school. Rather odd seeing your first car on campus but I enjoy looking at the car and miss it dearly. |

My second car was a teal 94 V6 camaro automatic with t tops. This was a neccesity for me to go to college 300 miles away since the Charger only got 8 miles per gallon. As soon as I saw this car and saw it had t tops I wanted it even though I was wanting a 5 speed. This car had a 3.4L V6 which ran very well but was no race car. The only two things we ever did to that car was to replace the paper air filter with a K&N filter and replace the muffler with a Flowmaster with dual outlets topped off with Z28 exhaust tips. I enjoyed this car a lot but it developed a water leak which we could not find where the water was going and eventually decided to sale it. First the new owner let it over heat really bad once and then had a incident when passing a semi truck where the car was totalled but she walked away without a scratch. It was sad to see it go but I got a much better car out of the whole deal. |
