Ladies and germs...may I have your attention please: I'm so excited to introduce a new feature to the site. With age comes responsibility and with resposibility comes growth...this new monthly addition will be a part of the ever growing 'local scene' section of this site. Indieport is a site dedicated to independent performers. Yours truly will feature 3 acts from our local scene here in NYC, on Indieport each month. In honor of the new millennium, I am dedicating the first feature to WOMAN, we will take over the world piece by piece!!! This month I am proud to offer your ears (and eyes) a couple of NYC's finest females. Bionic Finger, a blend of punk & folk with a capital A. Also Michal The Girl, ahhh...she is a lovely flower with an aggressive attitude. And last the very talented Anne Husick who's creativity throughout several projects has the repect of many in the industry, and would make any woman proud to be a woman....hear them all roar!!!!
After seeing Dogbowl's Site, I had no choice but to feature the man and his work. Check out the site to see both the paintings and the music. Browse his gallery and perhaps purchase the few works still available such as Alone in The Desert, Far From Las Vegas (left) for a mere $100! Also, another favorite of mine, They Had Similar Hats (right), which is sold. If you're a King Missile fan, you'll enjoy reading through his discography page. Some very funny comments contained in a liner-notes fashion. I caught Dogbowl playing with King Missile III at CMJ in October, and he's a very creative guitarist...one essential piece to KM3's being. His stage antics certainly had my attention throughout the entire show. I Look forward to seeing him play with KM3 again, perhaps in the not too distant future.
I met Katie last summer, and caught a gig with her band at Meow Mix. Great band. Katie is currently flying solo with a savagely cute self-released ep becoming. Check out her site to hear one of my favorites, Another Love Song. katie's solo act is selectively gigging, so check her gigs page often for her next live date. With beautifully strong vocals & a bit of a nip to her lyrics, Katie proves to be a total 21st Century woman, roar and all!

My friend Joe, lent me this cd because I missed Dragov's gig in December at Sidewalk Cafe. I really liked this cd. Dragov's tunes linger in your head....I had Chubby Linda in my head for an entire day. I heard a lot in this cd, maybe even a bit of Jeff Buckley. I'm not a Buckley fan at all, and in a past relationship I was mentally abused with Buckley...but although I heard the voice, I STILL enjoyed it. I also enjoyed Dr. Dragov's conversations with "Stephen Hawking" and the very dark & humorous Electroedopis. Yeah, I miss the Smashing Pumpkins and I was one of those fans into them early on in their career, but lost interest as the rest of the world adored them with the release of Mellon Collie...So, now I'm wondering what my favorite pumpkin will do next. I'm curious. My first wish is for Billy to grow his hair back, and soon. Ironically, I believe this is the subconscious reason I grew bored with SP...figure, the music became monotonous, and Billy looked horrible without his hair. I gave it a shot, and I just couldn't look at him. Click on Billy's photo to read the article...its pretty good.
I have many mixed feeling concerning RD jr. Yes, the guy is a complete freak being involved with drugs, and going in and out of jail...all of this with a son. Yes, I don't necessarily have a high tolerance for drug addicts, and yes, I know personally that Rob doesn't have the best pick up lines...but there's something about him I still love.
