| It's been two weeks now since I've been back. No more living on Hawaiian time, though I did try to hang on to the Aloha state of mind. Postcards, posters of sceneric Hawaii in my room. The scent of coconut oil used on my skin and hair. A hula dancer on my dashboard. While web-surfing to find jobs, I even considered applying for a crew member position on the Pride of Aloha ship. Now, it's time to look forward and wonder how in the world am I going to attend the next Vo Vi conference in Australia. I like the fact that I can be among the Vo Vi people and yet be apart from them. It's not by design, but it's how it is. I was never really included in any plan or taken care of by anyone in particular, so I did my best to enjoy the trip on my own. Yet, more often than not, I was part of the scenes. And I got comments from (x), (y) that showed I had an air of je-ne-sais-quoi. (Good, I hope.) Didn't really spend time with (z), but we had a couple conversations. We travel on our separate ways now, but hopefully to the same destination. A tenant moved out. I kinda convinced Mom to let Aunt Pauline move in, which surprised Mom because the last time we spoke about that subject, I flat out told Mom not to let her stay overnight. It's not that I'm not consistent. The last time, Aunt Pauline had rented a room, but her son Cuba still bothered her there, so she seeked refuge here with her daughter Ha.nh. This time, she had already moved twice, with Cuba at her heels. There is simply no chance of her getting rid of him on her own. Yet, her karma if not resolved soon will kill her one way or the other. Living here may prove to be her last solution. We called the police on Cuba once. Since then, he was arrested for possession. I'm banking on another incident so he can finally be shipped back to Vietnam. The only way to save my aunt who might be my daughter in my last incarnation. (I was my maternal grandmother who died young, or could be anyway.) I am thankful for my time here on earth. I know who I am now. Isn't that the purpose of keeping one's journal, to know oneself? thai ta |
