I. Typing in Spanish - Escribir a máquina en español:
For Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000
B. The US English International Keyboard enables one, who mainly types in English and only types a few foreign words within an English text, to make the necessary characters for the Western European alphabets. Thus, you can type such words as «café» and «señor» in addition to the European quotation marks I just used around those words, without changing to another keyboard. I use this keyboard as my default keyboard and also have the Traditional Spanish, Greek and German Standard keyboards installed.
To instal the US English International keyboard, follow the directions above, but before clicking Apply, highlight the English keyboard, then click Properties and select United States - International as the layout for the keyboard. Then click Ok, Apply and Ok again. You can set any one of the keyboards as your default keyboard by highlighting the one you want, and clicking on the Set as Default tab while installing the keyboards; or..... if you have already installed your keyboards, you can repeat the presidure above and simply highlight the keyboard you wish as default and then clicking on the Set as Default tab. Select the keyboard you type the most on as your default keyboard. ALSO, click the box, "Enable indicator on task bar". You will be able to see which keyboard is in effect by this indicator, and by clicking on it you can easily change between keyboards....... It will say: En for English, Es for Spanish, De for German, Gr for Greek, etc......... You can also change between keyboards by holding down the left Alt. button, while pressing the left Shift button.
Traditional Spanish Keyboard - Lower Case
Upper Case
Does not show Alt/Graphics keys, see my map.
If however, you
are
typing a long document in Spanish, Greek, German, etc....... it
is
much easier to type said document on a keyboard designed for that
particular
language..... I know this from personal experience.
II.
E-MAIL IN SPANISH .....
With the following browser, you can add spell-checkers from among the
13
languages currently available! Then you can spell-check your
e-mail
or the web pages you create in Composer.....
A. Download English or Spanish browser from this site........
You can order it on CD, a good thing to have, just in case your computer ever crashes, you will be able to reinstall Netscape very easily.
B. After downloading the browser in what ever language you choose, you can then download 'spell-checkers' from the current 13 languages available. ----- Compose an e-mail, then click on the SSpell-check button. When the spell-check window pops up, you will see a box where you can select languge. Click this open, and select 'download more' from the list. This will allow you to select the spell checkers in the language you wish!
HELP !!! I know nothing about "Monopolysoft" [Microsoft] Internet Explorer, but am sure the process is similar. I also know NOTHING about MACS (there is a MAC VERSION of Netscape 7 !), so if you MAC users and MS Explorer users want to send me instructions on how to set up Spanish browsers, spell-checkers, etc. I will add the information to this page.
N.B. En futuro, voy a añadir una traducción de estas instrucciones al epañol, para ellos que no leen bien el inglés.
