A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION:

August 26,2001

To Whom It May Concern:

Spanish tutor Stephen Upton was a great help to my son, Jimmy, during the 2000-2001 school year.  Jimmy had not been very well prepared during the time that he was taking Spanish I at his previous high school.  I didn't know it at the time, but the teacher was not there very often.  When Jimmy went to a new school, Lakeside in Dekalb County, he enrolled in Spanish II.  After being in this class for about three weeks his teacher advised us that Jimmy should go back and take Spanish I again and that he was not ready for Spanish II.

Jimmy did not want to take Spanish I over again, so we started to look for a tutor.  Jimmy assured me that he would get through the class if we could find a good tutor........ Right from the beginning, Stephen was very helpful.  He was flexible with his schedule. He was able to meet with Jimmy at his apartment after school.

Jimmy was able to get good grades in the class.  Stephen was able to help him study for his tests and help him with his homework.  There were a few times when Jimmy was worried about an upcoming test and would call Stephen to ask to come for help on an extra day.  Jimmy's final grade, spring semester, was a B.  To us this was a miracle!  The Spanish teacher gave Jimmy an award for Most Improved In a Foreign Language.  She only gave one of these awards.  Jimmy is a hard worker, but he would never have made it in Spanish without the help of Stephen.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions.  Stephen did more than help Jimmy get through Spanish.  Stephen has a deep love and respect for the Spanish language that he passed on to Jimmy as well.
