| At one stage they were the proprietors of the Bear Inn, Oxford and were traditionally stone masons with a pit (the Lay pit) in the Long Hanborough gravel pits/quarry. |
| This is my mother's paternal family tree and they are mainly loacted in Oxfordshire. We visited a few church graveyards and were staggared by the amount of Lays there were in them. The best being Long Hanborough Church and the other being Botley Cemetary. |
