elcome to Twin Hills Ranch, the home of John and Barb Uhrig and son Morgan. The ranch is located outside of Newell, South Dakota. Bear Butte serves as the backdrop and the prairies of South Dakota surround it.

Barb, a Western artist, makes the ranch her studio. She attributes much of the peacefulness and laid-back atmosphere to the type and quality of her work. A self-taught artist, she is somewhat of a recluse, acquiring her own style and grace, into which, each piece is created.

Along with Western art, the ranch also produces Purebred Cheviot sheep and foundation-bred Quarter Horses that graze the native South Dakota grasses.

In the heart of sheep country an unusual flock of woollies can be seen. Barb started raising this flock of Cheviot sheep about 15 years ago. As a one-"man" shepherdess, Barb handles the sheep alone, except for the help of her
dogs. Barb should have been born 100 years ago or so she would like to have been. her involvement with her flock is avery personal one-on-one type commitment. Her barn is busy place where the ewes and lambs talk with each other, and the dogs grubbing around the barn, and the few chickens that come in to lay an egg and brag about it. Along with her wool fleeces, Barb also sells ewe and ram lambs for starter flocks and older ewes as weed eaters. Spinners also like the older ewes for their wool, without having to lamb them.

Taking a step back in time, Barb enjoys spinning her wool. She finds it relaxing and rewarding. She alone, went through the work of selecting and saving the right ewes and rams to get the best fleeces and sheep. She also is the lone hand for lambing, and shearing, also done by Barb, is with a pair of hand shears. She skirts and washes the wool and prepares it for spinning. She alone, has produced the finished product from beginning to end.

here's more to this tale, but we can't tell it as well as Jr. Here's his story.

The bloodlines of our Quarter Horse colts go back to Poco Bueno, Two Eyed Jack, Leo, Kelly Cody, Three Bars, Flying Saint and Roan Handcock. Our stud, Bandit, passes on his great disposition to his colts who are now found in roping arenas, broodmare bands and general all-around horses.

Stop by and see Bandit and his colts or give us a call for prices on the colts for sale. We have roans, duns, blacks and grays.
