"Somewhere In Time"

Iggy saddled Cooter early in the morning. It was still
dark as they started out toward the hills. Iggy rode in
silence, wrapped up in his thoughts, after about half an
hour they reached a high hill. Iggy got off of Cooter,
loosened the cinch and took the bit out of his mouth.

Cooter had a itch between his eyes and rubbed his head up
and down on Iggy's arm and back and durn near knocked Iggy
down. When the itch was under control, Cooter started
grazing. Iggy sat down on that hill and looked to the east
and watched as the sun began to rise.

  "Lord, You busy?"

"Howdy Iggy!! Nope kinda quiet this morning, how you been?"

"I'm doin' fine sir, couldn't be better."

"Iggy, you're a strange man. Everyone always comes to
me when they are in trouble and need help. I can't ever
remember you coming and asking for something for yourself.
It is always to ask me to help someone else."

"Well, sir I don't like to bother you with things that I
kin handle myself, I know you got your hands full...."

"Iggy, isn't there anything that you want or need?"

"I don't think so sir, I wouldn't know what it would be."

"Well what can I do you for today? I know you aren't
riding around in the dark for the fun of it."

"Well Sir, I got this friend John ...."

"You know Iggy, I just figured it out. You have so many
friends, that you really don't need anything else.
You are a lucky man."

"Yup, don't need much when you got good friends."

"Now about John. I know him and he has had a mighty tough
time of it. You know Iggy that I can't change or cure the
things that happen to man. I can only help them if they
believe in me. I can give them the power and the strength
to deal with their problems and to endure,
but I can't change things."

  "Yessir, I understand that."

"Iggy I have to tell you that the time is coming soon
when I will reach down and bring John up here with me.
He is a good man and he is prepared for what is to come.

Hey! I have to tell you.. I found a gal, and she is a
real 'pistol' She has had some trials of her own, but
I got the two of them together on that 'net' thing you
guys fool with."

"She has been the best thing in the world for John.
Those two have become mighty close. John has done more
living in the last 10 months than he had done in the
last 10 years.

I think it has been good for her too. She has learned
a whole lot about herself and sharing ...
her life with others..."

"Yessir, I think I know who you mean, and I am really
worried about her. She has reached out so far to reach
John that she is way out on a branch and when you call
John across the great divide, she is gonna be in a
terrible vacuum and not have anyway to grieve."

"Don't worry Iggy, I know that gal. She has faith in
me and I hold her in my hand. She has many wonderful
memories of her times with John and she will do fine."

"You know Iggy the human spirit can withstand some
terrible blows and recover completely. I made it that
way. The only way the spirit can't survive is if it
is not allowed to reach out to others and share life.
If it can't reach others, it shrivels up and dies."

"That Gal Twink has a wonderful sense of humor and a
spirit that just jumps out to greet and embrace people.
She will do fine."

"Well sir, that makes me feel better, I shore hope
she gets along. She is a mighty fine lady!!"

"Iggy I will care for her, but she will need someone
to talk to and help her through some mighty hard times
ahead and that will be up to you."

"Jeepers Lord, I ain't very good at talkin' to people
and all. You sure I am the right feller to help her?"

"Iggy, that lady knows already the answers to what
faces her, all she needs is someone who will listen
as she talks herself through it.
You can handle that can't you??"

"Yessir, I kin listen real good!! I'll do my best to
help her. She's my friend!!"

"Well Iggy she couldn't ask for a better one!!"

  "Thank you Sir!!"

"See ya down the trail Iggy!!"

  "See ya Lord...."
