Just For Tonight Dearest Mother

Under cloudless climes and blue skies we may roam
Be it ever humble there is no place like home.
The caress of a mother, her kiss and smile
Is to my heart the core and all its fibers.

If only I could turn backwards the time
And be a child again just for tonight
You'll rock me to sleep dearest Mother of mine,
Tell me again I'm your joy and your pride.

Just for tonight in your arms hold me tight
And to your soft breast hold me with a smile.
Tenderly kiss away my tears and my fears
Tell me there is nothing to fear when you're near.

Read me a story or a fairy tale,
None like a mother can charm away pain,
Or sing me a song in front of the fire,
The years have been long and I am so tired.

O give me my childhood again for tonight
The caress of your hand to soothe and beguile.
Kiss from my forehead the deep lines of pain
The telltale signs of a world weary brain.

Over my heart all through the years that are flown,
No other love like your love has ever shone.
Just for tonight dearest Mother of mine
Rock me to sleep in your arms with a smile.
