I am choosing to start the article outside of Pointe Coupee. I'm starting it at a park just west of Simmesport at the corner of La. 1 and La. 1183. The Yellow Bayou Park is a beautiful, well maintained, cool escape from the hot summer sun. It has "facilities". It also has nicely placed picnic tables overlooking the cypress lined bayou. I suggest using it as a starting point. From there head east to Simmesport where gas and eats are available. Then cross the La.1 bridge and go north on La. 418. La. 418 is something special. I wandered the park taking pictures, amazed at my find. Below are a few shots of what I liked. The pictures are self-explanatory except for the big fish. |
