We have 3 malamutes - Marlie, Billy and Buster.  In 1998 we purchased Marlie,  our first malamute and 2 years later Billy came to our home as a playmate.  In 2002 Marlie had a litter, 3 girls and 1 boy, we kept the boy and called him Buster and we registered our kennel name "Snowhero".

In 1925 the town of Nome in Alaska had been exposed to diptheria and urgently needed Antitioxin Serum.  After much discussion on how to get the serum to Nome it was decided the use of dog teams was the only reliable way.  So the relay started at Nenana, 100 men and their dogs at varying stages completed a total of 674 miles in less than 5 and a half days to Nome in extreme conditions.

The men sacrificed their time and put so much trust in their dog teams to make the journey in darkness, snow, wind, ice and extreme cold, often below -30, these men and their dogs were hero's to me - hence the name "
Snowhero".
