Child
prostitution is a serious social problem in Thailand. The
issue has recently provoked national concern, receiving
much attention from the government and result in a policy
declaring that Thailand will no longer allow children
become commercial sex workers. Child prostitution in all
aspects disregards and abuses children's right,
contributes significantly to the
AIDS epidemic and destroys the country's reputation. A variety of approaches are necessary to stop child prostitution. They include, for example, providing proper education, promoting income generating activities, promoting self esteem, dignity and pride, as well as enforcing laws against prostitution, especially those laws penalizing people who force girls into prostitution. |
