Faerie Glade ~ Poetry

The Faerie Glade

Queen Mab
A little fairy comes at night,
her eyes are blue, her hair is brown,
With silver spots upon her wings,
And from the moon she flutters down.
~Thomas Hood~
(1799-1845)

The Land Of The Fey

Beyond the mists
Beyond the seas
There lived a people fair
of tiny size and bright green eyes
And yellow-golden hair

They sang and danced
They skipped, they pranced
They sang of magickal power
of starlight
and of mystickal moonlight
upon the elven hour

The song of time,
Necklace of thyme,
will take to one day
the magickal,
mystickal,
magnificent,
Land of the Fey

~Madison Voltaire Crocker~

Little Wings

Little wings,
I sense the beauty,
I can see it in your flight.
Poetry kisses,
whispers in your eyes,
sparkles on my face,
you only want me to believe.
Far beyond the forest,
in a city long forgotten,
I see you dancing lonely,
in a waterfall lit up by the moon.
My little friend,
you call to me,
you trust me and laugh at my awkward ways.
We swim together,
in this pool, washing away our misery.
We have this moment all to us,
no human could ever believe.
True friends,
until the end,
I will always hear you say:
"I am full of magic and make believe,
never fear me or wish me to stay
for I am the innocence left in your life,
don't let anyone ever take that away."

~Shylah Vollans~

Fairyland

A fairy's house stands in a wood,
Midst fairy trees and flowers,
Where daisies sing like little birds
Between the sun and showers,
And grasses whisper tiny things
About this world of ours.

Such flowers are there beside the way,
Lilies and hollyhocks:
Blow off their stalks to tell the time
Tall dandelion clocks;
While harebells ring an hourly chime
Like a wound music-box.

Some day shall we two try to find
This strange enchanted place?
Go hand in hand through flower-lit woods
Where living trees embrace--
And suddenly, as in a dream,
Behold a fairy's face!

Wishes

O give me the ears of a fairy
To hear the trees growing,
The greeting of ants and of earwigs;
To hearken the lowing
Of tiny green cattle in grass woods
Where wee winds are blowing.

O give me ears of a giant
To hear the sun thunder
Along space, to list the moon coming,
The earth swinging under:
Ah! we hear not and see not, but thinking
Fills life up with wonder!

~Author Unknown~

The Elves

Elves are no smaller
than men, and walk
as men do, in this world,
but with more grace than most,
and are not immortal.

Their beauty sets them aside
from other men and from women
unless a woman has that cold fire in her
called poet: with that

She may see them and by its light
they know her and are not afraid
and silver tongues of love
flicker between them.

~Denise Levertov~

The Faery Forest

THE faery forest glimmered
Beneath an ivory moon,
The silver grasses shimmered
Against a faery tune.

Beneath the silken silence
The crystal branches slept,
And dreaming thro' the dew-fall
The cold white blossoms wept.

~Sara Teasdale~

A Fantasy

HER voice is like clear water
That drips upon a stone
In forests far and silent
Where Quiet plays alone.

Her thoughts are like the lotus
Abloom by sacred streams
Beneath the temple arches
Where Quiet sits and dreams.

Her kisses are the roses
That glow while dusk is deep
In Persian garden closes
Where Quiet falls asleep.

~Sara Teasdale~
