Bling-Bling*

I'm the big winner today!  I got an achievement award signed by one of our many executive VPs.  Oh and I got a $25 gift certificate with that award and won a raffle for one of many $5 cards from Starbucks.  A little recognition program designed to improve employee morale, I suppose.

The Small Things in Life

I'm so ecstatic right now that I thought I'd take a moment to note this historical/memorable moment.  This is probably going to be totally meaningless to you and I probably won't care in a couple days but… it's me trying to capture the moment.

I finally spoke with Dave Black.  Who is this guy?  He's a high level executive at one of our affiliated Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans.  I've been hounding him through emails and voicemails to respond to a simple yes-no survey since the middle of last year!!!  I never even got an acknowledgement that he got my messages let alone if he's alive.  I thought it was just me… that he didn't like my voice or the way I write my emails but it turns out that he's infamous for his unresponsiveness.  Today, around 4 pm, I got a little reminder from Outlook to give him a call.  I groaned and was about to snooze it but thought that I may as well try.  I was almost too shocked to speak when he picked up.  The funny thing was that, after he answered my question, he told me he was at an executive meeting a few days ago and brought up that the responses to my survey would be a great reference.  I don't know if it was as he was saying the words or much later that he realized he didn't respond.  And he was the last one!  Well, at least he can laugh at himself.  I'm just happy that he finally realized that I'm not pestering him for some useless bits of data.  sigh.  One small battle won.
