Star Trek MicroMachines
From 1993 to 1997, Galoob produced MicroMachines models of Star Trek vehicles, selling them in packs of three. A total of 56 different vehicles were said to have been produced, several of them avaliable only through the purchase of Limited Edition Collector's Sets.
Star Trek Collection 1: SS Botany Bay, Klingon Battlecruiser, Romulan Bird of Prey The Original Star Trek
In the 1st series release, the USS Enterprise, Klingon Battlecruiser and Romulan Bird of Prey were together in a single pack. In the 2nd series release, new vehicles were introduced, but instead of they themselves being in a new single pack, new and previously released vehicles were packed together, apparently a business ploy by Galoob, expecting to grab more money from its customers now that they have to buy both collections to get the new vehicles, when they already have some of the previously released vehicles. Naturally, this caused much discontent among collectors. The same thing happened for the Movies Collections and TNG Collections.
Star Trek Collection 2: Shuttlecraft Galileo II, Space Station K-7, USS Enterprise NCC-1701
Star Trek The Movies
Originally, the
Klingon BoP, USS Reliant and USS Excelsior comprised of a single pack in the 1st series release. As in the case of the TOS Collections, new vehicles were packed with previously released vehicles for the 2nd series release. IMHO, Galoob should have packed the new vehicles all by themselves, so that collectors don't have to spend money to buy the same vehicles again in order to get the new ones. When the USS Excelsior was first released, its decal read "NX-2000", as seen in Star Trek III. This apparently lead to a dispute between Galoob and Paramount, resulting in the relabelling of the decal to "NCC-2000", as seen in Star Trek VI. The "NX-2000" variant is now an ultra-rare item.Collections 9 and 11 also belong to the Movies Collections.
Star Trek Collection 3: Federation Space Dock, Klingon Bird of Prey, USS Reliant NCC-1864
Star Trek Collection 4: Vulcan Shuttle Surak, USS Grissom NCC-638, USS Excelsior NCC-2000
Star Trek: The Next Generations
In the 1st series release, the
TNG pack only included the Klingon Vor'cha Attack Cruiser, Borg Ship and Romulan Warbird. Six new vehicles were introduced for the 2nd series release, but as expected, Galoob maximised its opportunity to grab more money from its customers by arranging the collection packs such that each pack has one of the above three vehicles and two other new vehicles.
Star Trek Collection 5: Klingon Vor'cha Attack Cruiser, USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, Romulan Scout Ship
It is understood that the vehicles you see here are just the prototype models, so they have more details than the actual product. For example, the textures on the USS Enterprise-D and USS Enterprise-C are not as evident on the actual model as you can see here in these pictures.
Star Trek Collection 6: Borg Ship, Ferengi Marauder, USS Enterprise NCC-1701-C
Although the Borg Ship appears to have smooth edges in this picture, on the actual product the textures extend all the way to the edges.
The actual
USS Enterprise-C vehicle has silver gloss on the warp nacelles and on the bridge, not the light blue gloss you see in this picture.
Star Trek Collection 7: Romulan Warbird, TNG Shuttlecraft, USS Stargazer NCC-2893
The TNG Shuttlecraft is labelled "Berman", a reference to the current head of the Star Trek enterprise, Rick Berman.
In the picture, the decals on
USS Stargazer reads "NCC-7100", instead of the decals on the actual model, "NCC-2893". It is not understood why the USS Stargazer follows the same yellow finish for the USS Stargazer model in Capt. Picard's ready room, when the starship was seen to have the same grey finish as any other Federation starship on the show.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
The
DS9 Collections consist of Collection 8, 10, 12 and 15. Galoob must have realised that its policy of packing new and previously released vehicles together was upsetting many of its customers. So from Collection 9 onwards, new vehicles were packed all by themselves. No more mixing.
Star Trek Collection 8: Space Station Deep Space Nine, Cardassian Galor Warship, Runabout
The decals on the Runabout reads "NCC-72452", which indicates that it is the USS Rio Grande, although this is not explicitly written on the package.
Star Trek Collection 10: Bajoran Ship, Kalestron Ship, Miradorn Ship
Star Trek Collection 12: USS Defiant NCC-74205, Jem'Hadar Ship, USS Saratoga NCC-31911
Star Trek Collection 15: Karemma Ship, Bajoran Solar Sail, Cardassian Obsidian
I have renamed the Bajoran Sailing Ship to Bajoran Solar Sail as this new name sounds more appropiate.
Star Trek The Movies (con't)
Collection 9 is a special pack for the movie
Star Trek Generations. It has the USS Enterprise-B, USS Enterprise-D (with detachable saucer section), and another Klingon BoP, this version of BoP having a different colour scheme from that of Collection 3.

Collection 11 consists of the
Space Dock Shuttle, HMS Bounty Klingon BoP, and USS Farragut. The HMS Bounty is yet another Klingon BoP, but it is said to have movable wings which can flip up. The decals on the USS Farragut reads "NCC-60597", although the starship is listed as "NCC-60591" in The Star Trek Encyclopedia. The actual number could barely be seen in the movie itself.

Unfortunately, Galoob has discontinued its run of Star Trek vehicles. If not, one would have expected new collections of vehicles from future Star Trek movies, like the Son'a warships from
Star Trek Insurrection, or even the Scimitar, new Romulan Warbirds, and the Argo from Star Trek Nemesis. When it was announced that the USS Enterprise-E would be released together with the Limited Edition Collector's Set 3, I had thought that models of the Borg Sphere or even the Phoenix would also be produced. However, this did not happen at all.
Star Trek Collection 9: USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B, USS Enterprise-D (detachable saucer section), STG Klingon Bird of Prey
Star Trek Collection 10: Space Dock Shuttle, HMS Bounty Klingon BoP, USS Farragut
Star Trek Collection 13: USS Voyager NCC-74656, Kazon Fighter, Maquis Ship Star Trek: Voyager
The VOY Collections consist of Collections 13, 14 and 16. Collections 15 and 16 were the last Star Trek packs produced by Galoob. Either by coincidence or design, Galoob ended its run of Star Trek vehicles at around the same time when the Kazons were being written off VOY. The Kazons were originally intended to be the main adversaries faced by the crew of the USS Voyager as they travelled towards home through the Delta Quadrant. Unfortunately, they proved to be nothing more than irritating space aliens who never caught the fans' imagination.

The fact that the
VOY Collections featured no less than four Kazon vehicles shows that Galoob probably had an idea of the original storyline that VOY was supposed to be taking, presumably from meetings with Paramount executives. However, with the end of the Star Trek MicroMachines run, many later adversaries from VOY never got the chance to be materialized as MicroMachines models. These include the Species 8472 Bioship, USS Equinox, Krenim Temporal Ship, and even the faux-USS Dauntless.

Okay, the latter half of the
VOY series showcased encounters with Species 8472, the Hirogen, as well as with the Borg. But the Borg only had cubes and spheres, and even the asymmetrical Borg ship from TNG has been generally disregarded. And if they are not going to make the sphere, we pretty much have the cube already!...
Star Trek Collection 14: Kazon Raider, Numiri Ship, Kazon Mother Ship
Star Trek Collection 16: Kazon Torpedo, Array, VOY Shuttlecraft
