They were telling stories, laughing over glasses of fellip nectar, honoring absent friends the only way they could. Zhaan and John and Stark and friends on home worlds they might never see again. And when John retold the Halosian story, Aeryn smiled faintly into his eyes. Yes, it trembled at the edges, fragile, but they had to start somewhere. |
