I have been studying Pai Lum Gongfu for 20 years now and find I still no very little. I'm not quite sure how to feel about that. I'll tell you this though, I am having much more fun now than I ever have with it. I have learned twice as much in the past 5 years than I have over the other 15. We have a great group of the Adopted Grandsons of Grandmaster Pai in the North East. They have been completely forthcoming with the knowledge and history contained in the art. I say this because I know there are other Martial Arts instructors, even in our system that are in this for the money. Jjust trying to squeeze every extra cent out of students for the sake of lining their pockets and making themseves appear to be much more than they are. Don't get me wrong I understand the Business of Martial Arts instruction. But let me put it to you this way. I grew up relatively poor and had my Sifu Ben Reyes not given me the oportunity to work off my dues by helping teach. I would not have been in for 20 years and who knows how I might have turned out without the kwoon (school) as a place to both focus and vent. I don't want to be redundant so untilI think of something else to have on this page, go to My bro's website to get more info on our school, click on the link below. |
I began training in Pai Lum in 1982 under Sifu Russell Lacasse, who learned from Sifu Bruce Langloise, who Learned from Sifu Richard Venizzianno, who learned from Grandamaster Pai. About 2 years into my training Sifu Lacasse stopped teaching due to injuries and Personal problems at which time myself and my kungfu brother Eric Lecuyer began learning from a student of Sifu Bruce Langloise, Sifu Benito Reyes. It is under Sifu Reyes that we achieved the 1st Upper Level(Black Sash). See the White Dragon Fist Arts Page for full lineage. Shorlty after this we began venturing out to learn more about kungfu and Pai Lum. I came into contact with Sifu Glenn Wilson and attended a few seminars and annual events. What I hadn't realized is that there was an active contingent of practitioners here in Massachusetts. I met Sifu Henrick Hamburg in 1994 in at an event in Florida. We immediately bonded and have been adopted brothers since. I learned a great deal from Sifu Henrick and continue to do so on a regular basis. It was under Sifu Henrick that I was elevated to 2nd Upper level. It was also Sifu Hamburg who introduced us to the Grandsons of Grandmaster Pai. As of about 1 1/2 years ago we have been learning more about the essence of Pai Lum Technique, its history, and traditions under Pai Hsin Lung (Phil Hunter). Pai Hsin Lung has made a point of getting us involved in the family activities and training sessions. I do the majority of my training with him now or other close members of the family such as Pai Ching Lin (Dave Smith) or his students Sifu Dan Anhaltt and Sifu Bill Lucciano.
