 | The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has an extensive trout stocking program that they enact every year. I fish tailwaters near my house mostly, but I do enjoy making some trips east to fish in the mountains. TWRA has started its annual winter trout stock at Nices Mill Dam which is located in Smyrna. These trout can`t live in the Stones during summer so they only put in fish during the winter. Most of the trout that I fish for are recent stockers, but we also have some fish that are holdovers from past stockings. The fly that I have my most luck with on the Caney is the Woolly Bugger, either olive and black or brown and black. I have also had good success on a fly I made up myself that I haven`t even named yet. It is kind of a combo of several different flies. |
