Julius Henry Marx aka Groucho. He was the star of many comedies with his brothers (Chico, Gummo, Harpo, Zeppo) including Duck Soup(1933). He is a funny man whose character has master the art of language. No one can out talk Grouch. His only competition is his brother Chico who plays an Italian immigrant (acceint and all.  This hilarious man died August 19, 1977.
October 3, 1998
Sadly, this is the day that a great actor died. Roddy McDowall took his last breath on this day after a battle with cancer. The last professional thing he did was host the documentary Behind the Planet of the Apes.  One of his last movies includes A Bug's Life which he was a part of a year before his death. He is most famous for his portrayal as Dr. Cornelius in Planet of the Apes. I encourage you to look into these films and others that he's done.  How Green Was My Valley is my new favorite movie. I know that Posiden Adventure was very popular. Mr. McDowall was also a photographer, and you can find his works in his four books all labeled Double Exposure.

A trajic day in the world of comedy. On this day Leonard Marx aka Chico died. He was famous as a comedian with his brothers (see above). He was also known to play the piano very well. In the movie Animal Crackers he kept playing a song over and over because he couldn't remember how it finished. We will always remember his Italian character and hold him deeply in our hearts.
Columbus Day is really on the 12th. Christopher Columbus is very controversial. He is credited with "discovering" the Americas, but, think about it, he died thinking he reached India. He also killed most of the Native Americans with which he came in contact. Actually, he did a big thing by going on his voyage. He opened the see routes to this new and mysterious place. There is the thought that anyone could have done what he did, but, then again, he was the one who did.

This was the day an awesome actor was born: Mark Lenard. He portrayed Sarek of Vulcan, Spock's father, on Star Trek. (Actually, it is interesting that he played an enemy Romulin before becoming Sarek.) It is sad that he left us in 1996, but we can still celebrate his life on this day, and everyday if we so choose. He is a warm
actor that will always have a special place in my heart and the hearts of all those who knew him and his work.
October 22, 1985
This is the 17th (can you believe it?!) birthday of Zachary Walker Hanson. He is growing up! Think about it. When Hanson first came out, he was 11. That means Hanson has been around for 6 years! Anyway, I hope he's has a great day and doesn't let time slip by too fast.
