Behind the Booner
is usually a coupla testicles, but in Uniball's case, just one...
It all started in Ms. Chaput (now Mrs. Silvers)'s Biology class in 9th grade. Nick Wilhelm and Josh Reith had been acquaintances for a while, but it wasn't until the mention of Josh's soon-to-be-acquired drumset that Nick thought about his guitar @ home and proposed the idea of a band. In the legendary words of Lucas from "Empire Records" : "First you need a name, then you know what kind of band you have." Later we would find out that we still didn't know what kind of band we were. The word boon was brought up by Emily in health class, apparently it means "something that did good things for you".  Josh added on the 'er' for artistic quality, and Booner
was born.
We had our much-coveted name, then it came down to the
hard part, the line-up, we thought about having a  lead singer or rythm guitarist, and even had Brett Bowen sing for a coupla shows, but as it turned out once we found our bassist, the band was pretty much set. It was finding the bassist that turned out to suck. Thank Elvis that we found Chad Edwards, someone Josh had known since he moved to Defiance in 8th grade. He picked up the bass after tinkering around with a guitar for a while, and from our first practice we fit together great. What didn't fit so well was all of us in Josh's basement, especially after Nick got his monster foot pedal for Christmas. So, we moved to a more spacious Chad's garage. That worked well for us until we decided we needed somewhere we could just go and hang-out, without worrying about setting up or tearing down our set. It just so happened that Nick's grandpa's abandoned garage served the perfect spot, and that is where we practiced haphazardly, until somebody used it as the site for a nasty case of arson, so now we've moved back to Chad's garage.
exc.4 that 2-week puck thing...DAMN Meijer!!!
We used to cover a lot of Blink, but now we're doing some harder rock music. We're in the process of writing music for an EP that we'll be sending to record labels over the summer, so wish us luck with everything.
Anyway, now we're in the 12th grade and Booner has a four-song demo CD out that's been recorded in basements and garages across Defiance. It's not the greatest, just a little something to remember us by, and maybe something future fans will covet. Our shows are few and far between right now, but plans are in motion for more. As our site says:
