This is going to be a very sketchy page, but still let me introduce myself:

• My name is Saugata Basu
• I am from that wonderful country that is called India
• More specifically, I was born in Calcutta, capital of West Bengal and arguably the best city in the world.
• I live and work in New Delhi though home still is Calcutta, with my grandparents, parents and kid brother.
• I have a beautiful girlfriend called Tuju, and we have been happy together for a long time now.

• STOP PRESS: WE GOT MARRIED ON 14 AUGUST 2001.

• My training is as a statistician specializing in Applied Statistics. See my professional homepage
• And I work in Insurance.
• My interests (yes this is the good part, let us make another list):

1. Literature in English: I am essentially a short story freak, though I wont say I don't read novels.
2. Recently I have been engrossed with writers from the subcontinent writing in English.
3. Dogs are another passion. I have two Golden Retrievers: Goldie and Ba(n)dar. Ba(n)dar is current Best of Breed in Calcutta.
4. If there's something that I most enjoy doing it is Teaching. I have taken quite a few assignments in the past. Now I am teaching a group of kids high school Statistics.
