Amitav Ghosh: The Shadow Lines is an education for all. I feel reading it has somehow made me more Bengalee. And started my Ghosh addiction. The Calcutta Chromosome has rewarded me well. This is a link to his official website.

Had he been born in Greece or Rome we would have read him in books of proverbs. This is a link to a collection of his works. Hope the motion picture measures up.

Arthur Conan Doyle: Classics are nothing but ancient popular fiction. Each of the Sherlock Holmes stories is a masterpiece in the art of the short story.
