Balanced attack leads Cats to victory

In one of the best offensive performance by Kentucky this season, five Wildcats scored in double figures, as the Wildcats defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 92-60. Kelenna Azubuike led the way with 17 points on 7 of 10 shooting and 3-4 from beyond the arc, to go along with 6 rebounds. Antwain Barbour also made 3 of 4 three-pointers and added 16 points, as he got his 6th consecutive start in place of the injured Gerald Fitch. For the third consecutive game, Fitch came off the bench, but only played one minute, as Tubby Smith apparently didn't want to risk further injury to his star player. Erik Daniels only scored 12 points, but also dished out 6 assists, second only to the Cliff Hawkins' 7 dimes to go along with 15 points. Chuck Hayes added 14 points, six rebounds, and 3 steals.

The 32-point margin of victory was Kentucky's largest of the season. Their 92 points was surpassed only by the 108 and 101 points scored against Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky. Another season-high was the 11 three-pointers made by the Cats. While the story of the game was their offensive explosion, Kentucky's defense was solid, as always, as they held Tennessee to 38% shooting for the game. Also impressive was the effort on the glass, as the Cats out-rebounded the Vols 40-27. The only area they did not excel in was at the free-throw line, where they made just 15 of 26 (57.7%).
