UK Trip 2005
16th April 2005

Not a lot happening so far today. One or two nice emails, bit of music, bit of extra sleep! Didn't wake up at Sydney lunchtime even once! Pete's out at sport for the morning with his two sons. I feel completely disorganised next to him, and I'M meant to be the super-organised tourist here. They usually visit afterwards on a Saturday morning, and they'll need the computer when they return, so

Finally got to see an episode of the new version of Dr Who as well...hmmm...

Saw the pubs of Brentford tonight...well, two of them. The first one we stopped at, The Magpie & Crown, had Coopers Sparkling behind the bar...excellent news! Walked about, grumbled at some of the new developments already sprouting in the area as it screams towards gentrification, and then Pete pointed out that it was possible to follow the canal path all the way to Birmingham from his place on foot. We didn't try it.

Wound up in the Watermans Arms for the next drink, where conversation ranged from the Union Jack to Australia's 1999 attempt at a "cocktail party republic" to VE Day and why the hell I'm here at the moment in the first place.
