Introduction: Friends, you know ? In the begining, this PIA's ULD Cell ,previously known as Hardare Cell ,was the part of Cargo Section's ware house, and later in year 1979, this CELL, along with 08 Cargo Assistant was merged in PIA's Traffic section. ULD stands for Aircrafts Unit Load Device i-e Containers & Pallets with nets and they comes in various sizes & specifications for various Air Craft types. In past, inventory control was carried out manually & in year 1982 BIN CARD system was introduced. In year 1984, ULD Management System was acquired from SITA.
CELL Function: This Cell known as ULD HDQ, procures ULDs through Manager Ramp Operations. ULDs are assembled & repaired by TGS Division. The planning, the Statistics of ULDs Movements, Stations Inventory & Storage is controlled by ULD HDQ which is Head Office Unit.
ULD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: The objective of the system is to accurately record the movement of all ULD's to facilitate utilization of these expensive pieces of equipment. This system is updated by receiving formatted telex messages known as UCM's (Unit Check Messages).
Station Functions: ULDs on Aircrafts are loaded and offloaded by Traffic Staff/Agents at various stations on PIA Network.
To meet needy stations requirement, round the clock, Pak Base Stations Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore & Peshawar are responsible for ULD operation. Shifts A, B, C & D performs these assignment, they store empty ULDs, they received from arrivals & feeds needy stations under the guidance of ULD HDQ, however for emergency requirements they check their stock and feeds stations accordingly when ULD HDQ on weekly off. The Trim Superviseor or loading / off loading supervisor or ULD staff / Agent are recommended to send UCM telex for all arriving/ departing flights. It is on discreation of Station Manager. UCM must be on prescribed format. |
