A brief stop over in
Agana Airport, Guam.

Feb. 2, 2001- The group heads down to the Honolulu International Airport and got on the 2:00 P.M. Continental Micronesia flight to Guam. A brief stop over and then got on another Continental Micronesia flight to Manila.
Feb. 3, 2001- Arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila at about 11:00 P.M. We boarded on the two waiting chartered Farinas bus going to Laoag City. A brief stop over at one of Manila's Restaurant along the way where we were treated by Franklin Borromeo with our first Philippine meal. Another brief stop over at a Pangasinan Restaurant along the way then continued on the trip.

Feb. 4, 2001- Arrived at the Ilocos Norte-Ilocos Sur boundary at about 10:00 A.M. where we were met by our advance party and the delegation of Laoag City Councilwoman Sonia Siazon with a banner prepared for us. Took a snap picture, tied the banner to the front of the bus and enjoyed our police escort all the way to Laoag City. The group arrived at the North View Hotel in Laoag City where most of us will be staying, (others are at Ranada Hotel, formerly Texicano) at about 11:00 A.M. where we were met by Mayor Roger Farinas and First Lady Chona Farinas and five council members from the city council, Sonia Siazon, Yvonne Ranada, Jose "Pepoc" Pastor, Jay Ramos, and Joseph Tamayo. We were treated for brunch at the nearby turo-turo sa Northview. At night, we attended the Association of Barangay Captains Coronation night at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena.

Feb. 5, 2001- Group meeting at Fort Ilocandia Hotel hosted by councilwoman Sonia Siazon. In the afternoon, we attended a welcome party together with the other unit organizations fro Hawaii in Cabungaan, Laoag City at Mr. Tupinio's residence, a sucessful retiree from Hawaii. At night, we attended a dinner at the Mayor's house then head down to attend the UFCH coronation and Balikbayan Night led by Annie Corpuz wherein Editha Simon, Mrs. Hawaii-Filipina was crowned. Northern Christian College prepared the program and entertainment.

Feb. 6, 2001- We were treated for a breakfast together with the other balikbayan group at Fort Ilocandia Hotel hosted by councilwoman Sonia Siazon. A courtesy call to the Mayor in his office bringing with us our Mrs. Charity and Mrs. Balikbayan. At night, we attended another dinner at the Mayor's house then head down to attend the Kalayaan International Balikbayan and coronation night led by their President Ben Pulido. Ilocos Norte Governor, Bongbong Marcos was the Guest Speaker. The appearance of well known Ilocano singer Vhen Bautista added more excitement. Miss Hawaii-Filipina Jennifer Vea and Miss Kalayaan International Darlene Bueno were crowned that night. Bacarra National Comprehensive High School prepared the program and did most of the entertainment. Hawaii talents displayed by Jennifer Vea singing in a chorus with her Philippine relatives while Richard Abadilla and Tasha Narte did a ballroom dance exhibition. Some of us went to Fort Ilocandia after the event to try their luck playing casino.

Feb. 7, 2001- Courtesy call to Ilocos Norte Governor Bongbong Marcos in his office wherein we met George Ramos, a well known radio reporter. At noon time, Councilwomen Sonia Siazon and Yvonne Ranada took the group to Dingras for another courtesy call to Mayor Oswaldo Parado in his office wherein we were treated for lunch. Atty. Chito Dumlao took us to Nueva Era via Suba and Paoay and viewed the ongoing development of a mango plantation project. At night, we attended another dinner at Mayor Farinas house and then head down to attend the International Filipino Society of Hawaii Balikbayan and coronation night led by Aurea Agas wherein Luz Caoile was crowned queen, Rose Baybayan was the 1st Princess and Fely Farinas was the 2nd Princess. A ballroom dancing exhibition was performed by Larry Farinas and Rose Baybayan. Mariano Marcos State University prepared the program and entertainment.

Feb. 8, 2001- Watch the colorful city calesa parade in the morning. Heads down to Batac in the afternoon through the invitation of Leoncio and Luz Caoile. Dinner was served at their house. We attended the Laoag City Circle of Hawaii Balikbayan and coronation night led by their President Delia Manuel. Their respective queens were also crowned that night. Sagibsib Performing Arts Troupe also performed. Ilocos Norte National High School prepared the program and entertainment.

Feb. 9, 2001- Participated in the Grand Parade. We have floats for all our queens. The two firetrucks donated by the city and county of Honolulu were also in the parade wherein some of our members rode on it during the parade. This is the ULOH Balikbayan and coronation night led by Angie Borromeo. Hawaii talents displayed as they performed- Jessica Corpuz, Sheri-Lyn Baclig, Richard Abadilla, and Tasha Narte. Sagibsib Performing Arts Troupe and the Tawid Cultural Group also performed. Rowena Hernandez was crowned Mrs. ULOH and Marina Corpuz was crowned Mrs. Charity while Violeta Salenda was crowned Mrs. Balikbayan. DECS-1 and Gabu National High School prepared the program and entertainment. After the coronation, we have a Post Party Celebration for the ROYAL COURT at North View Hotel Coffee Shop & Restaurant. This is attended by the Laoag City Mayor & Madam Farinas, councilmembers, city officials & employees, friends & Hawaii delegates.
Feb. 10, 2001- Attend a lunch invitation by two of our prominent members, Stan and Conching Ramos within the city of Laoag at their residence. At night, we attended the Search for Miss Laoag City Pamulinawen 2001 wherein Miss Hawaii-Filipina Jennifer Vea and Miss Oahu-Filipina Sheri-Lyn Baclig were judges along with two famous Philippine movie stars Jomar Yllana and bench model Wendell Ramos. Our other organization queens took part in the giving of bouquets and pinning sashes to the winners.

Feb. 11, 2001- Attend a lunch invitation hosted by Sagibsib Performing Arts Troupe at the residence of Dr. Purisima Bueno. Heads down to Bacarra in the afternoon to attend another lunch invitation by one of our members, Estrella Padron. At night, we attended the Binibining Pilipinas-Ilocos Norte Pageant at the Laoag City amphitheatre. Our queens took part by giving bouquets and pinning sashes to the winners. We also met in here our former consul general in Honolulu, Minerva Jean Falcon wherein she served as chairwoman of the judges that night. Miss Oahu-Filipina, Sheri-Lyn Baclig and Jessica Corpuz performed at this event wherein Jessica was crowned as Miss Hawaiian Island Beauty by Congressman and Mrs. Rodolfo Farinas after her performance. The appearance of movie star Imelda Papin, Philippines Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Loren Legarda Leviste made the night more interesting. Balikbayans got the front seat for both events.

Feb.12, 2001- Attend a lunch invitation at Cloud 9 Restaurant in the Ranada Hotel, formerly Texicano hosted by Laoag City Councilwoman Yvonne Ranada. Attended a dinner invitation hosted by Tawid Cultural Group led by Porfiria Raval at the residence of one of their members Engineer and Mrs. Taylan. We were also serenaded with Ilocano love songs by this group.

Feb. 13, 2001- Attend a dinner invitation at the residence of Councilwoman Sonia Siazon. Heads down to Sarrat at 9:00 P.M. to attend and support the Valentines Ball and coronation night of Miss Oahu-Filipina Sheri-Lynn Baclig and group led by Lynn Gutierrez. Not in the plan but Jessica Corpuz was also crowned in there. Attend another luncheon at Mayor Abad's residence after the event.
Feb. 14, 2001- Check out at from our Hotel at 6:00 A.M. and heads down to the Farinas bus Station for our trip to Manila and then to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for our trip back to Hawaii. Some of us stayed back to tend to personal matters.
