Galaxy
The solar system is located in a galaxy. The galaxy we live in is the Milky Way Galaxy. Certain galaxies are listed as part of the Local Group. This list shows the 31 galaxies in the Local Group, although there are other galaxies that may be a part of this not shown here. Note that M32 (NGC 221) and NGC 221 (M32) are the same galaxy, and M110 (NGC 205) and NGC 205 (M110) are also the same galaxy.
M is the listing of messier objects, and NGC stands for New General Catalogue.

The largest known galaxy is M87, an elliptical galaxy in the Virgo cluster, containing around 800 billion stars. The smallest known galaxy is Pegasus II, a dwarf elliptical galaxy of about 10 million stars. The nearest galaxy is Sagittarius, a swarf elliptical galaxy, discovered in 1994. It is about 80,000 light-years away from Earth, and 50,000 light-years away from the edge of our galaxy.
