Pallet Town
Pallet Town is where you start your adventure in the game. Specifically, you start in your bedroom in your house on the second floor. You have nothing with you, so what you can do next is go to your computer (PC) and withraw a potion, which heals one pokemon up to 20 HP. Then you go downstairs, and talk to your mother if you like.
Your mother has no major role in the game other than heal all your pokemon to full health like a pokemon center does, but at the beginning she is willing to let you go free to wander the world.
There are two other buildings in Pallet Town, one is Professor Oak's office, or research lab, and the other, is your rival's house. Your rival will be waiting inside Professor Oak's Lab, telling you that Professor Oak is not around. So once you seen everything there is to see, you can head on north to Viridan City.
Just as you leave the city and walk through some grass, Professor Oak will pop out behind you telling you how dangerous it is to wander alone out in the wild. Once he reaches you, a wild pokemon appears, one that is Pikachu.
Professor Oak uses a pokeball to catch the wild Pikachu, and once he does so he takes to his lab, where you meet your rival. That is where the conversation begins and you and your rival both get pokemon.
You get your Pikachu from Professor Oak, while your rival gets an Eevee. He challenges you for the first time if you try to leave.
His pokemon are a level 5 Eevee, that knows Tail Whip and Tackle. If you defeat Eevee, your Pikachu will gain 97 stat experience, and will immediately grow to level 6, and learn Tail Whip. Gary will say "WHAT? Unbelievable! I picked the wrong pokemon!" He will then give you half his money, or 175 pokemoney for winning. You originally started off with 3000. If you lose to Gary at the end of the battle, you don't black out or lose half your money, and your Pikachu will be in full health. The frame above is default.

Next, you can go to Gary's house and talk to his sister, whom will give you a map of Kanto. Then you can head on town to Route 1.
Now although we call him Gary, there are many arguments on what name I should have named him in the beginning, but because we have access to the future in Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, his name then is pkmn trainer BLUE, but because due to parameter length in name, I cannot add the pkmn trainer, so he is called BLUE (yes, it has to be in all capitalization too).
