History of ALD:
"We shall pass our torches on, one to another."

Alpha Lambda Delta was founded at the University of Illinois in 1924 to honor excellent academic achievements by students in their first year of study at the level of higher education. The society has numerous programs to encourage continued superior classroom performance, such as awards, national workshops, campus activities, fellowships and loans for undergraduate, graduate and professional study.

UMB inducted its 57 charter members on May 3, 2000. In attendance were top campus officials, faculty, staff, parents and friends. This was a diverse group of talented students.

This first group has passed down their vision and torches. Today the newest members of ALD have picked up the torch and are prepared to write the next exciting chapter of ALD at UMass Boston.
