LATEST MATCH REPORT  WELTON 8 - Spilsby 1

St Helens 1-2 This was a super game end to end with chances for both teams we again fell to a sucker punch and then equalised through Ryan, and then again we were all caught watching the ball again and got killed off by a sucker punch. Well done lads you can hold your heads up high you done well in you first season

Spilsby 8-1 We were really up for this game, from the off it was like watching Brazil we were brilliant. Daniel opened the scoring with superb shot from the left then the rout really started with Jack striking a further three times, Two with his left foot well he never told me he had a left foot, excellent, super, fantastic, in between all this Stephen  smashed the ball home and Craig slammed the ball home from a corner 20 meters out with a left foot volley. Just as Dirty Spilsby thought they had weathered the worst up popped Ryan who slotted home a further two superb goals, and just to make a game of it and because he was bored Ruairi pulled down one of their guys, only because he wanted to save a penalty but he failed never mind Ruiari, it stopped the boredom. The Spilsby manager never let the result get to him remaining very calm and collective throughout. Still he was full of encouragement and motivational techniques that I must take to my next management and or training workshop.

Swifts 1-3 Great game end to end action with swifts going two goals up and then we got a superb goal back with an excellent goal from a superb pass from Daniel with Ryan slotting the ball home. From then on it was all Welton then we committed suicide with six players chasing the ball , the ball broke to right and they killed us off with a sucker punch.  Ryan is named man of the match.

Ermine 0-1 well  what a match we hit the post within 30 seconds no doubt it was easier to score than to hit those thin things called posts but there we were yet again. We probably had 20 clear chances in the first half to score but squandered all off them. Still we have been here before "seems like I am back home watching Arsenal lots of chances very few goals" The second half was much the same then came Ermine's first corner and before you read it you can guess they scored a goal with their very first attack. We somehow manage to miss another who knows how many chances and lose. Ryan is named man of the match.

St Helens 17/02/02 0-0 This was much better we were back to nearly our best we held one of the form teams to a draw, the game was end to end with some excellent performances from Daniel, Ryan, James and David who filled in for Ruairi in his absence and earned himself man of the match. Well done lads

Birchwood 3/02/02 1-5 Well we had another one of those days where the team just did not perform for one reason or another we were just not at the races  Ryan took a wonderful goal in his stride but to no avail, although James had a super game and ended up being named man of the match

East Coast 27/01/02 1-3 Well we played much better than the last time we played East Coast  going two goals down the pulling a great goal back via Jack just before half time we then probably had the better chances for an equaliser when we committed suicide  and ended up losing .Matthew was named man of the match.

16/12/01 Claytons 1-0 At last we got back to winning ways. We looked sharper today with Matthew, Ryan and Stephen playing some of their best football to-date. we had a shot from Daniel cleared off the line then from nowhere Craig picked the ball up an let go with a fierce drive that took a deflection on the way in. Great goal Craig, we looked vulnerable in the second half as Claytons put us under a lot of pressure. We had a couple of breaks with Daniel and Ryan going close The parents were split over the man of the match with Ryan just beating Stephen and Craig. Well done Ryan

9/12/01 East Coast 2-6  Best we forget this one. It just looked like we had never played football before, the only shining light on the day was Ruairi, with out him in goal we could well off lost by twenty goals. Parents name Ruairi man of the match well done Ruairi.

2/12/01 Birchwood 0-2 we played some lovely football today and were very unlucky to be  beaten their first goal was a superb solo goal. We had our chances to go level with Stephen and Jack wasting good chances then we conceded a second, but we continued to fight and went close on a couple of more occasions. Matthew was named man of the man

25/11/01 Swifts 2-5 So we had to fight against the weather and a terrible referee. I know its not the premiership but once we kicked off and the first throw was a foul throw the writing was on the wall. Then swifts attack Ruairi makes a good save when in slides their striker and kicks the ball out of Ruairi's hands and follows through with his feet into Ruairi's face. "Goal to the dismay of all watching, this is under 9 football surely this should be stamped out at this tender age" the rain continued to fall, we break down the right with a terrific move ending up with Jack hitting the post, then a further dodgy decision from the un-biased ref (maybe not), a further goal slipping through the sodden gloves of Ruairi. Still we keep on fighting then fall to a further couple of daft goals before half time 4-0 at the turn. We come out fighting in the second half the rain now stopped, we dominate proceedings then fall foul of a breakaway long distance effort falling to their striker to have a simple tap in. We continue to fight for every ball then Stephen cracks the ball home from a cracking move involving Daniel, Ryan & Jack, we carry on where we left off only to see a goal mouth scrambled shot from Daniel come back off the post, they belt the ball down into our half only for Craig to run the full length of the pitch to unleash a wicked shot that ends up rebounding off the post half way into our half. " Its just not meant to be". Then we win a corner Jacks steps up and probably hits the worst corner of the game but bobble, bobble, bobble, bobble, bobble, GOALLLLLLLLL "Nicely played for Jack". Hopefully Swifts will look at themselves at the end of the season  and realise why they have the lowest sporting marks !!!! The Parents name Craig as Man of the Match but it was a close run contest with Martin.

18/11/01 Old Leake 5-0 Back to league action today. We started a bit shaky for the first two minutes, then we began to dominate midfield with Matthew and Daniel playing their best football for a while. The first half we were camped in Old Leake's half. Stephen replaced Ryan who passed to Daniel who slipped a super through ball to Jack who blasted the ball home right on the stroke of half time. Martin and Ryan replaced Craig and Jack and the game continued as the first half left off with us creating chance after chance, Ryan hit a super shot the rebound from the keeper fell to David who tucked the ball away. Daniel then made another cutting pass to Ryan who finished superbly in to the bottom right corner. Stephen then continued the rout with two further goals, then going close for his hat-trick. The final whistle blows. David is named parents man of the match, well done David. Next up Swifts

11/1101 Caythorpe 1-7 We had an off game against a far better team although we did go one up with a super strike from Jack. Ruairi was named parents man of the match.

4/3/01 Heighington 4/10/01 7-0 At last we have found our goal scoring boots. No Ruairi so David went in goal only being called on once to collect a back pass. The whole game was played in the opposition's half with wave after wave of attacks Jack was on fire after his American adventures he scored with a lovely lob from outside the box, then he burst through from the middle to slot he ball home for his second followed by a corner from Daniel finished by Jack with a half volley in to the top corner, three up at half time. after some banter Jack is given 15 minutes to get a further 3 goals of which he obliges within 12 minutes. The team played some excellent football with Matthew playing his best game to date. Stephen the rounds the day off we goal scrambled in. The parents Man of the Match is Jack "well done Jack". Next up Caythorpe

Ermine 0-0 All I can really say is this was just an absolutely super game. We were under pressure for the first few minutes then we settled and played some excellent football with David, Ryan & Stephen going close. Ruairi pulled off some good saves when we really needed him to. Daniel and Matthew played well in the middle with Craig sweeping up everything that went in his direction. James defended with true conviction working in tandem with Craig. Martin came on for the last 25 minutes for James and continued where James left off. Well done lads take two well earned weeks off. The parents name the whole team as boys of the match.

7/10/01 Spilsby 5-1 We kicked off in the dry for a change Stephen went up for the toss as our Captain unfortunately he lost the toss. Spilsby kicked off we went straight into them with Ryan leading the field, we had attack after attack when Daniel slammed the ball  home from within the box from a defensive mix up. Then Stephen pounced onto a lose ball passing a defender an slamming the ball home. From the kick off Ryan went for goal with a cracking little run, the keeper making a save. From the corner Jack forced the ball home. From the start Ryan again went on the rampage only to pull his shot wide, then another break with Ryan bursting down the left only to see the keeper make the best save of the game from the corner the ball was cleared by the defence only to see it return with Stephen forcing the ball home. Half time comes, Daniel and Stephen make way for Martin and Matthew, we kick off and are not on our game maybe the changes have caused some confusion, then they attack three defenders go for the ball and the attacker finds himself on the floor, a penalty is awarded. David has to front the penalty taker who slams the ball home. 4-1 This gives the team a wake up call, Daniel comes on for Jack and his second thing to do is take a corner which is banged into the goal by one of their defenders. Ryan continues to dominate the game charging down the right he lets rip and the ball smashes the upright. it is not going to be Ryan's day. From the goal kick Dan lets rip with a first time shot that just goes over the bar. We continue to dominate with no further goals. Great Match the parents name Ryan as Man of the Match. Well done Ryan our next Captain. Next up Ermine Juniors

30/9/01 Claytons 2-1

Claytons came to Welton today hoping for a win, Daniel went up for the toss of the coin. Daniel called heads and heads it was. The rain was falling again, we started very slowly with lots of mix ups in our defence we just could not get rid of the ball then the inevitable happened will gave the ball away in side our area, they pounced and we were one down.

Then we started to play the ball around with Craig breaking down the right sliding the ball through to Ryan who crossed to David who cracked a shot at goal the keeper making a great save. From the goal kick we won the ball back, Jack passed the ball to Daniel who controlled the ball superbly going pass two defenders then turning them inside out before letting rip with a rasping drive into the left hand corner of the net. Game on.

We controlled the second half with some good attacking football from Stephen & Ryan only being stopped by some superb goal keeping then Daniel picked up the ball in midfield slotting an excellent ball through to Ryan who instinctively banged the ball home. One further attack from Claytons with their attacker beating Craig to the ball he was one on one with  Ruairi when Craig made the best tackle of the game sliding in to take the ball away.

The Mums and Dads Name Stephen as Man of the Match. Well done Stephen our next Captain.

23/9/01 Welton Boys Under 10 1-0

We took on the Under 10 team today in the worst conditions we have played in to date, the rain at its best was horizontal, still the boys set about the start of the game in an emphatic way. We attacked from the kick off with the team working very hard for each other. Jack was like a man on a mission with charges from midfield then back again. Ryan came close on a couple of occasions but still that goal just would not come. Then Jack broke from midfield and attacked their defence the ball broke for David slam the goal in. We had a couple more good attacks to no avail, half time. The second half kicks off into ever decreasing conditions, but we keep the pressure on with good chances falling to David and Ryan but the second goal just would not come, then they break three on two and Ruairi makes a good save then another break to them again the defence comes to our aid with Ruairi cleaning up, then a sudden break down the left Daniel slides the ball to Ryan who passes the defender with ease, he lines up and shoots, the keeper makes a good save. The final whistle blows. Well done lads. The Manager makes Jack man of the Match.

9/9/01 Alstom 0-1

Our first venture into the cup, it is a cold and windy morning when we arrive. James has been named captain following his excellent performance against Old Leake. He goes up and wins the toss we play with the wind at our backs, most of the game is played in the midfield in the first half with very few chances going to either team. The second half kicks off in to an ever increasing wind we get the first break with Daniel bursting through the middle laying the ball off to Jack who crosses to David, the keeper goes to ground David pulls the trigger but the ball some how manages to go through his legs. We keep the pressure on again with David trying to score from a long range effort, the keeper makes a good save. Then the pressure reverts on to us with Alstom going close on a couple of occasions. The referee indicate 4 minutes left, are we going in to extra time? Alstom break down the left Craig intercepts and puts the ball out for a corner. The corner swings in every one misses it, and some how it finds its way into the net. One down with two minutes to play we put every thing into the last couple of minutes, then the final whistle  blows 1-0 to Alstom. Well done Alstom and god luck in the next round. All the Mums and Dads make Daniel the Man of the Match. Well done Daniel.

2/9/01 Old Leake 1-0

So the Season started today. We ventured south to Old Leake Boston. Daniel was named as captain he went up to call heads and again he one the toss. We kicked off and went straight for goal but were unable to finish time after time we went close, but were unable to score. James made a Beckham like surge through the middle sliding the ball through to Matthew who finished superbly into the top left corner. Then another break down the middle little Ryan makes a classy cross to Daniel with the keeper on the floor Dan spins only to see his shot go wide (probably easier to score than miss). Much the same in the second half with chance after chance being wasted, again James is covering every inch of the grass, defending, attacking and supporting play from every where. The final whistle goes.  So we win our first league match. The parents man of the match is named  James (well done). Next up Alstom in the cup.

30/08/01 Nettleham 1-4

So here we are playing at home for the first time, this time it was drizzle in the air as we kicked off. We played much better as a team than our last outing, but unfortunately it was to  be Nettleham who drew first blood  a good attack down the left and a great tackle by Craig but then we all stood still and waited for them to score,  from the kick off we went close, then Jack picked the ball up just inside their half and went on an amazing dribble with a stunning finish into the bottom left corner of their net 1-1 all was looking good  at half time. The manager made some changes that did not quite work and before we knew it we were 2-1 down again we just let them line up for the shot. Ruairi pulled off some fine saves. We had some excellent breaks down the wings but to no avail, then another defensive mix up and before you new it we were 3-1 down we made some further changes that did not quite pay off and we eventually lost 4-1 but the whole team looked shaper and faster than on Sunday well done to all the lads who played and Nettleham 'B'. Next up Old Leake this Sunday. Good luck lads. Man of the Match Ruairi well done.

26/8/01 Birchwood 1-8

So we kicked off our friendly today against Birchwood. The sun was blazing down on the Welton Warriors, Daniel was named as our first captain. We moved out to the pitch receiving cheers from our mums and dads on the side line. The Manager was apprehensive, would we start our campaign with a win.

The referee took the two captains to the centre circle tossed the coin in the air, Dan called "heads" yes we won the kick off.

From there it was obvious that it was our first game we wanted the ball to come to us, well it didn't  Two minutes gone they came bursting through the centre oh no its a goal. From the kick off it was only another two minutes and they scored again bursting through the middle Then we conceded our first  corner it went off for a goal kick. We took the kick straight to their attacker bang the ball was back in the net. We managed to do this a further 3 times  before half time We were attacking well but just could not manage to score that elusive goal. The whistle blows  5-0 at half time.

The manager reorganised the team we looked better in the second half more fight  from the team. Ryan goes close followed by a scramble in the area where  Matthew goes close again, we just could not finish. then a mix up in our area and they go six up, we go close again on a couple of occasions but fail to hit the target. Then we win a corner, up steps Jack who curls one in for our first goal. Mums and Dads go wild. we then fail to get our goal kick away and they score again. we were unfortunate not to score again but poor finishing lets us down. They break down the right get in a cross which ricochets into the goal. 8-1 the final whistle blows and the guys come off to a standing ovation from the crowd. Craig is named as man of the match well done Craig. Next up is Nettleham
