Unique Perspectives Book Club began in November of 2000 by a group of friends who had a passion for reading books written by black authors. Michael Baisden's "Maintenance Man" was the first book selected by our group. This sparked an exciting journey into the world of imagination and fun for our more than dozen initial book club members. Other books that have followed include, "The World Unknown" by Edward P. Jones, "The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sista Souljah and "A Day Late and a Dollar Short" by Terry McMillian. Our book list as well as our member list continues to grow.
Our club presents special tokens to each member celebrating a birthday during the meetings, which are normally held the last Friday of each month at various locations. We also celebrate our anniversary in November of each year at a location of our choice. We are quickly adding additional fun to our list by venturing on trips such as New Orleans, Louisiana and taking Days of Culture to various locations around the city. Unique has conducted meetings that included opinions from the male perspective. We also designate Sister/Friend time during each meeting. This gives our members time to discuss past experiences, current events and future aspirations. Stay tuned for more exciting things presented to you by Unique Perspectives Book Club and thank you for visiting our site. |
