Drinking
Someone tells you there's a really fun video game.  It's great, everyone plays it, and gives you all kinds of things you can't get anywhere else. The only problems are if you play it too much you can kill yourself, if you play irresponsibly you can kill others, and sometimes even when you do play it right, you nearly always are violently sick right after or have a headache the next morning.  Furthermore, you may do other things when you're playing that you might forget about, stupid things, or dangerous things.  This is because you really don't have your head on striaght when your playing and sometimes can't even speak correctly or know where you are.

There are other video games like this one too, only they have a stronger effect and are illigal.  Some of them are even less dangerous to yourself or others.  Everyone will tell you that this kind of game is bad, but they will go right on playing the first game.

I had to make myself any clearer I'd have to clean off your moniter, I'm talking about drinking.  An activity which I have had nothing but second hand, however poor experience with.

I suppose as a buddhist my first arguement stems from the part of the Eightfold Path that says to keep a "Right Mind" or "Right Mindfulness".  Not to let your true self go to effects like drugs that may cloud your judgement.

Clever readers my notice that I did not say alcohol in the above paragraph.  No I didn't, I said drugs.  You are deluding yourself if you think that alcohol is not a drug, a drug that carries addictions and concquences just like cocaine, herion, meth, or anything else that society would consider "improper".

Aside from that, however, why why why why in the world would you play the first video game?  Knowing what you could do to yourself, or others.  There are other things in life that are entertaining, and no matter how fun drinking is, it's not worth that kind of risk just because you wanted to get high (drunk if you perfer, it's only an ethical difference, not a medical one).

For some reason, though, it infuriates me.  Call me crazy, but when someone asks if I want a drink I say no thanks.  But behind my polite smile is an anger that really just wants to rip your fucking throat off.

Thank you for listening!
