The Matrix: Revolutions
Yeah! It's finally over!  Naturally the critics give it bad reviews, but whaddya gonna do.  What can we say about Revolutions with out giving any spoilers out.

First off, its a very different movie than the other two in the series.  Where The Marix, and Reloaded delt with the robot/human war within the matrix, this last chapter deals with the war mostly outside the fun gun shooting kung-fu kind of in your face we've gotten used too.  Everything is much more serious and much more real life.  Here the CG really shines, not because its so real you think "Wow, those graphics look real", but because you don't think of them as graphics at all.

Second, this movie occurs over a much shorter time frame than the last movies.  Where The Matrix and Reloaded spanned a few days in the lives of our heros, Revolutions spans around twenty hours.  Everything is very fast and over very quickly.  No body really gets very far geologically speaking.  Very condensed, very compact.  It seems odd that a lot of the things Revolutions happened just hours ago movie time.  This isn't really a bad; thing, just a thing.

And last is the ending, which true to form is very open ended.  The Architect and the Oracle hint as to what the future of the matrix holds in a conversation just before the credits roll, but really it's an up in the air.  Really leaves room for other movies, maybe a slew of books like Star Wars, another game or MMORPG.  Who knows.

If I had to gripe about one thing it's that I have no idea what happens to Tank who was apparently fine at the end of the Matrix, but seems to have had some sort of complications and passed away.  No explaination is ever offered for this and frankly, I find it immesely frustrating.  I always expected him to make a comeback in Revolutions somewhere but it never happens.

In the end, it's inevitable this movie will receive bad reviews.  Lay fans or casual movie goers probably won't enjoy the movie because it's simply not like the others, it's not supposed to be.  It resolves its plot and brings everything to an end.  And thats ok too.  If this is the bottom of the rabbit hole, then we've got all of wonderland yet to explore.
