Up until now, this meant that ECE students needed to take the Elementary versions of the exam, since these were the only ones that were approved by the State of Nevada. Many of you know that I have worked over the past year to get this changed (i.e., so ECE students could take the ECE versions of the Praxis-II). I am happy to announce that I have just learned that the State of Nevada Commission on Professional Standards in Education has approved the Early Childhood versions of the Praxis Test, starting immediately. Here is what this means for you: 1. Students usually take the Praxis-II during their student teaching internship semester. It is not required officially, but if you want to be considered "highly qualified" you need to take it. Now, instead of signing up to take the elementary versions of the test, you will sign up to take the ECE versions (#0021 and 0022). 2. Because this version of the Praxis-II has not been used in the state before, in order to establish the cut-off scores, all students who take the exams between now and February 2009 will pass. 3. If you are a full major and are close to doing your student teaching internship, you may want to consider taking the Praxis-II sometime before February 2009 because of the "no fault" period. After February 2009, cut-off scores will be established and those students who test below the cut-off score will not pass. There are many new and exciting events occurring this semester! ** Updated on 10/6/08 |
