After our first meeting, we planned some exciting new events. We will hold a Resume Workshop for our members at the next meeting on March 4th at 7:30pm. We will be presenting ideas and information about creating effective and creative resumes and give ideas for landing the job you apply for! Lots of information will be available. Also, come with ideas for fundrasiers for our club.
Currently being planned is another workshop on portfolios on April 9th at 6pm! This time it will be more interactive where questions can be asked and examples will be provided. We will have members available to offer advice and information about taking the next step to completing your portfolio. At this meeting there will also be elections. If your interested in becoming an officer, please let us know. We have four positions available for next year! It's a great experience and opportunity to become an officer!

We attended the College of Health and Human Sciences Mixer on September 19, 2007. We got to meet a lot of new people, mingle with the Dean, and enjoy RootBeer Floats! Thanks to those of you who attended.
We held our New Semester Get Together Meeting on October 3, 2007. Many new members attended to gain information about the club and upcoming events. Thanks to those of you who were able to come.
We held our exciting event and meeting on November 7, 2007 - our Professional Development Workshop on Portfolios! This workshop offered a lot of useful and interesting information for everyone! A lot of new members, past members, and potential members joined us for the workshop! Thanks to all of you who were able to make it. We hope you gained a lot of information about portfolios and were able to get a lot of your questions answered. A big THANK YOU to Dr. Melissa Burnham, Ginny Beck, Michelle Hammond and Erin Baerwaldt for offering helpful information to all of us!
The final meeting of the fall 2007 semester was held on December 5, 2007. We had a wonderful time discussing the semester. The club was asked to offer ideas, suggestions, and concerns about the College of Health and Human Sciences. If you have anything to add, please e-mail us! Our Toy Drive was pretty successful and the toys will be given to Children's Cabinet to be distributed to children around the community. Thanks to everyone who was able to help out the area for the holidays!

The UNR SMS helped with the NevAEYC State Conference Committee. The conference was March 1-3, 2007 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. A bus tour of NAEYC Accredited child care centers in Reno occurred. Visits were made to TMCC, CFRC, St. Mary's, and Heart to Hand. The UNR SMS presented a session at the conference as well.
The UNR SMS adopted the Preschool program at Veteran's Elementary School. Supplies and other materials for the classroom were sponsored and given to the classroom..
