My previous letter of "Additional
Strong Obstacles To Prevent Me From Running For Political Position"
was inspired by the appearance of Dr. Irwani Muthalib, the head of
Marzuki Mahdi mental asylum in Bogor, on TV-One recently. Her appearance
on TV was related with the possibility of increasing numbers of
depressed and stressed people caused by the failure in becoming the
members of parliament after the 9 April 2009 election.
The name of Marzuki Mahdi mental asylum in
Bogor seemingly has a special meaning for me. After my work at American
Express in 1989 was over, I found a temporary job in 1990 as an
interviewer and translator for Stock Market Development Project held by
Asian Development Bank, Unit Trust of India, and Bapepam, the Indonesian
kind of SEC. The project was managed by PT Intermatrix.
At that moment the head of Bapepam was Mr.
Marzuki Usman.
In year 2000, after living in Jakarta for
several years, I began to move to my sister’s house at Cinere which is
in Depok, West Java.
In 2002, the name of the oldest mental asylum
in Bogor, West Java, was changed into Marzuki Mahdi.
This seemingly co-related names of Marzuki
Usman and Marzuki Mahdi has a special meaning for me, as if it became a
test for me to choose between Usman or Mahdi.
Usman is like having the meaning of "U.S.
man", or my self becomes more American. It also like having the meaning
of "you as a man", related with my bachelor status that seems like my
still being a boy, not yet a man.
While for Mahdi, it is like the name of Imam
Mahdi, a still fiction-figure which according to some religious scholars
based on the words of the prophet, will appear approaching the doomsday.
Since my name is A.M. Firmansyah, so Imam Mahdi sounds like "I’m A.M.
Mahdi".
But of course I would prefer to avoid such
position of Mahdi since it will be like triggering the real Imam Mahdi
to appear, which means also like triggering the doomsday.
This Marzuki matters becomes more interesting
since in the election a few days ago, according to the quick-count
results, the winner is Democrat party, which secretary-general’s name is
Marzuki Alie. The initial of Marzuki Alie is "M.A." that sounds like
"Emma", like related with Rahma as the Emma for me to help me move out
of this world like written in my letter "Rahm
Emmanuel In The US Congress".
