UP ORG is a venue for various outdoor recreations like camping, beacheneering, kayaking/boating, skin-diving, scuba diving, mountain biking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, hiking, spelunking (caving), kite flying, fishing, and other outdoor pursuits. In 1992 and 1994, we hosted the MFPI federation climb at Matulid River. We also hosted the 1993 and 1994 Pidalan BMX and Mountain Bike race and competition.
During the second semester of 1987, a group of students from one of UP's camping classes became so fond of their class that they started hanging-out with their camping class instructors who were also members of the UP Mountaineers so that they could continue going to recreational areas even after the sem had passed. This eventually led to the creation of a new organization. Hence, in May of 1988, the UP Outdoor Recreation Group emerged. In all, there were 33 founding members that consist of 22 females and 11 males. On our 10th anniversary in 1998, members of the UP Outdoor Recreation Group have reached to more than 200, both students and alumni.
