The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountian
The original Superstition Mountain was built in 1978. The ride was revamped during the 2001-2002 off season and became Indiana Beach's 5th coaster and the 3rd coaster at Indiana Beach built by Custom Coasters International. Every bit of the original track was ripped out and CCI came in to work their magic. Lost Coaster is a themed runaway mine train with steep, sudden drop and tight turns. Riders face each other and are greeted by many surprises as the cars make their wild ride through the mountain.

The Galaxie The Galaxie, imported from Italy and built by SDC was installed at Indiana Beach in 1971.The ride is situated on a pier over Lake Shaffer. It is a wild mouse steel coaster that is not very fast, but has some good helix track on both ends of the coaster. Taking these curves at 30 MPH gives riders the sensation that they are travelling faster than they really are. If anyone has any older pictures of the Galaxie please email them to me. |

Tig'rr Coaster The Tig'rr Coster, a Jet Star steel twister coaster was purchased in 1984 from Pontchartrain Beach in Louisiana and moved to Monticello. It is quite a bit faster than the Galaxie, but the height restriction is extreme at 54" and smaller kids can't ride on it. |

Hoosier Hurricane Built in 1994 by Custom Coasters, the Hoosier Hurricane was the first major custom designed wooden track coaster built in Indiana in over fifty years. It cost $4 million to build and stands 100 feet tall. The coaster streches the length of Indiana Beach and is partially built over the water. It features a great dip under the suspention bridge and nearly dives into the water twice. After the turn around at the end of the island, the Hurricane jumps and dodges several buildings and structures before coming to a screeching halt, throwing the riders forward at the end of the ride. |

With limited space to work with CCI was forced to come up with a clever design for a new coaster that utilized the small space effectively. They created the Cornball express a twisting, tightly turning, plunging coaster.
Cornball Express It opened May 18th of 2001. The 4th coaster in Indiana built by Custom Coasters and the 2nd at Indiana Beach. The 2.5 million dollar Cornball Express is exciting right from the start. It swings you around and into the structure of the Hurricane. It then goes into the lift hill which is aligned with the Hurricane's lift, it twists left and dives down into the mist of the Rocky Rapids log flume, wraps around the tig'rr, dives down over the water, goes back into the structure of the hurricane, straddles several kiddie rides before going into a helix that delivers some good lateral g's. It then dives beneath its own track and bunny hops, maintaining great speed before another right turn and an 's' bend just before the train returns to the station. It has marvelous air time and plenty of suprises. The Cornball's excitment level remains very high throughout the entire ride. |
