In the summer of 2002 I made a research trip to Indonesia, to study some species of swiftlets that live there. I have to say, Indonesia is a stunningly beautiful country. Is there a better way to combine research with pleasure? Don't think so. The pictures you see on this page are just the tip of the iceberg, but they should be enough to make you think "That lucky bastard!". Am I right or am I right?
The research station in the mountains of Mount Halimun National Park (West Java), where I've stayed for a couple of days.
Proudly posing on the doorstep of the macan's habitat. By the way, 'macan' means panther. (Mount Halimun National Park.)
A view from top of the impressive Borobudur (East Java), a 9th century buddhist temple complex.
A small swiftlet nest (Collocalia linchi) found in a tunnel (Candikuning, Bali).
That's right, it IS a monkey! (Monkey Forest, Bali.)
Sunsets at Kuta Beach (Bali) are simply enchanting. Need I say more?
This photo is sponsored by Bintang Beer! (Lovina, Bali.)
Making friends with my guide Nyoman. (Denpasar, Bali.)
Watching the sunrise on top of a nearly 2 kilometres high vulcano is...amazing! (Gunung Batur, Bali.)
