UNITED SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT:

Rules & Regulations

In Every Game, There Must Be Rules...

So PLEASE, take the time to read these.

First and Foremost, HAVE FUN! That's what a game is all about.

Now that I'm done with the mushy crap...

Rule #1 is Respect.
Respect three things, listed in order of importance...
1) Other Players (From here on out, known as "promoters"). You should respect every other player. In character fueds are fine, but out of character fueds will not be tolerated on this site. If I find out you are causing difficulties (beyond the extent of roleplaying out your character's feuds) to any other player, I (or a member of the USE Staff) will restrict your ability to post until the situation is resolved. (I'm a busy man, so dont waste our time!)

2) The Site (The main site & the message board sites).
This means no extreme vulgarity on the site or boards. If you don't know whether or not it's okay, it probably isn't. Censor it.
***Added Note on Language*** My opinion on profanity is that it shows a lack of intelligence, vocabulary skills, and most of all, creativity. We're all role players here. Substituting a well calculated insult with the "f word" or the "s word" just shows a lack of effort, in my opinion. I know each and every one of you could make effective insult posts without every other word being "bleepable". Phrases like "what the hell?" and "I'll be damned" are common place and are fine as far as I'm concerned. When you start making every other line "Mother F*&#er" and "You're worth s#1%" it starts to get old really fast. Keep the language mild, and instead of using profanity, get creative with your insult. Mindless dribble loses matches.

And 3) The Staff
Unlike the old rules, The Suits of the USE will more than likely also be staff. That is, of course, if that person is in fact interested in helping with the maintenance of the site. The definitive list of the staff will be kept in the Contacts page.
The staff will be available to approve posts that need approval and answer rules questions. They will also backhand you if you get out of line. It actually used to be one of my favorite things to do. Now that I'm running the place, I would really prefer not to have to do it at all. Thanks for your cooperation on that one.

IC Board Rules

#1) Because of the fact that there is no way to approve posts before they go up, and the fact that things plotwise would rampantly run amuck, THERE WILL BE NO ATTACKS on the IC Board UNLESS approved by ALL players involved AND a staff member is notified BEFORE the attack happens.
#2: The same thing goes for anonymous posts; don't make them without staff approval. We will just delete them, unless you can PROVE you attempted to contact a staff member before hand (and I'm a Computer Science guy, it's a DIFFICULT thing to do).
#3: Keep OOC comments to a minimum when possible (IC Board only, of course).

Promoter Limits

There is a THREE CHARACTER LIMIT per promoter. You may only have THREE ACTIVE wrestlers at any given time. However, characters on Injury Leave or on the American Tour are NOT considered active.

Events and Belts

"Meltdown" and "Pay Per Views" are considered live events.
Meltdown results will be posted on Wednesday evenings.
Pay Per View results, unless notified in advance (ie a Holiday, etc) will be posted on Sundays.

Belt Descriptions and Requirements:

  • The USE World Heavyweight Championship: The top of the ladder. The dream of almost anyone in the business is to reach the World Heavyweight Championship. The Champion is only required to defend the belt at a Pay Per View to the number one contender; however, if the title holder decides to defend more frequently, that wrestler may earn more 'Push' (Described later) for their matches. All other belt defenses are by choice. The wrestler must be more than 230 lbs. Wrestler must have been in the federation for at least 2 weeks.
  • United States Championship:A fighting champion's title; the U.S.E. logo, embossed behind a painted American flag shows the true spirit of a fighter. The U.S. Title must be defended at every live event. On non-PPV programs, the belt is defended in the style of the champion's choosing. On PPV programs, the belt is defended against the number one contender in the style of Executive decision. Any wrestler may pursue this title.
  • The USE World Extreme Title. As the title designates, a title for the man (or woman) who feels that a regular match just isn't good - or exciting - enough for them; weapons, ladders, Boiler Rooms, trash cans, lids, brass knucks.. all legal. The World Extreme Title must be defended every other event at the least (including a required PPV defense). A word of warning: in the past, there has been warnings about 'if your character wrestles in nothing but extreme matches, they will get hurt' but never seemed to. If I notice any particular wrestlers seem to be getting into all extreme matches or gimmick matches with lots of injury possibility, expect your characters to get injured. Nothing long term, obviously, but it will effect your push or your stats temporarily. Hey, even Mick Foley lost some.
  • World Tag Team Championships:The one and only team title of United Sports Entertainment. Defended in classic tag style at least twice a month, including one Pay Per View defense against the named number one contenders. Any two wrestlers, regardless of gender or weight, may pursue these titles.
  • Number One Contention: This guarantees a shot at the following Pay Per View for the specified title. (Note: The previous wording of this ruling left it so that the number one contender in the cruiserweight division could fight for the USE World Heavyweight Title. Sorry, isn't happening this time around folks)

Plans and Roleplays

First and foremost, PLANS AND ROLEPLAYS ARE DUE TWO DAYS BEFORE A MELTDOWN AND THREE DAYS BEFORE A PPV.
This is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY becuase time is running scarce for many of us, and as of right now, I'm basically running this place by myself. Plans received later than two days before an event will likely not be used. In RARE cases we may make exceptions, but we do not want anyone to fall into the curve of giving us plans late, so they will be far and few. This allows us to write better results and adequately judge roleplays, etc.

For IC purposes, Meltdown events will take place at the home base arena in Boston, Massachusetts. Pay Per Views are "on the road" and their location depends on the Pay Per View. The home base has been relocated because of the transfer of ownership from one character to another, and the current owner decided to bring the production back to Boston. You got a problem wid dat?

Now, I'll bet you're wondering: How will plans be run? Well that's a good question. In the USE, there are 3 types of plans: In Match, Roleplays, and Attacks.

In-Match plans for your match are always welcome. In-Match plans are good especially for gimmick matches and extreme matches. You can think of stuff a lot cooler than the Sim ever could. In-Match plans require no approval, unless you plan to injure someone. Then it needs to be discussed by all players involved, etc.

Roleplays are things like plot-building backstage scenes, mic work before matches, and special guest commentary. If they involve your characters only, they require no approval (with the exception of Guest Commentary; let's face it, Jazz could not walk out and do commentary for a Spike vs. Kane match just because she's a woman!) If they involve other promoter's characters in non-interactive capacity (i.e. a letter delivery) they require no approval. Anything beyond that requires the consent of the promoter. Plans should also include anyone whom you might be watching like a friend, tag team partner, or a stable mate. This could prevent them from getting an attack. Some common locations include:
  • The Ring- A Standard Wrestling ring. Either at home base in Boston, or on the road, it's the same ol' ring.
  • The Ramp/Soundstage -That place between the back and the ring.
  • The Jumbotron - The big screen above the entrance. Many have their promos broadcasted over to people in the ring. Used to be known amongst some players as the "ColdAsIceTron"
  • The Lobby - The lobby at U.S.E. Headquarters. There are various vendors as well as two memorials, one to Dreamweaver and one to Newbreed.
  • The Boiler Room- Not much to describe here, Vlad, you freak.
  • The Locker Room - Woo. Take a guess what this is?
  • The gym - useful for downtime between events; keeps your characters in shape and such.
  • The Office of Russell 'Ruiner' Simmons - More promos than he would like take place here. Russ, unlike Vincent Frost, loses his cool MUCH quicker and more physically. SHOOT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. (unless you contact us of course)
  • Various other locals - you're in Boston, use your imagination! But remember, certain locations might carry certain consequences if you shoot from them. Roleplay well and nothing bad SHOULD happen, mwuhahahahaha!!!!!
Attacks
There are 3 styles of attacks: Blindsiding, Brawling, and Interfering.
Blindsiding is a one sided attack that could be a beat down before a big match, a plot progressor, or a practical joke. A limited number of blindsiding can be done per promoter. The staff will decide when you have too many blindsides and will not include them. No serious damage can be done with blindsiding. Also, there could be serious IC ramnifications to too much blindsiding. Use it wisely.
Brawling is what occurs when you take the time to plan with another promoter. Planning with another promoter is smiled upon by the staff, and even more so when the staff is included. Contacting other players is as simple as putting a small OOC at the bottom of a post. Brawls can even take place on the IC board with proper approval. In this case, one person may send in the plan for both players, but I must receive notification that the plan is approved.
Interfering in another wrestler's match is acceptable. However, the staff will determine whether or not the interference is for plot progression or not. If wrestler A interferes in wrestler B's match for no good reason, it might not work right. Also keep in mind, many players "counter plan". They send in plans to prevent things like run-ins and attacks, so be careful. It happens. However, it does have some drawbacks... the fact that the person you try and "screw over" won't very happy with you. :)

Suits and Property

Anyone considered a Suit can NOT, under most circumstances, be blindsided. These characters have a certain level of protection from things like that. You should know that it would result in a suspension for the character. However, if suspension is what you seek, we have no problem with getting knocked around. Also, if it's good for plot, talk to the suit's promoter about it... they might approve some fun.
Destruction of U.S.E. Property is frowned upon. If you do it to the suits' or characters' property, expect IC retaliation.

How matches are decided.

80% of the matches are run through a Wrestling Simulation called Zues Pro. The In Character forum is where players post as their characters to make and accept challenges as well as bash those with whom they already have matches scheduled. This is the role play aspect and posts that concern your matches, and are aimed towards your opponents can give you advantages. Since we realize that not everyone can play on a daily basis, we ask that people do so as often as possible and when deciding on bonuses we consider the quality of the individual post over the quantity of posts. HOWEVER....please note that a single good post does not guarantee you a win. It simply helps your odds of winning. The sim tends to favor older characters, but strange things have been known to happen. In the end, ALL RESULTS will be evaluated by me so that roleplaying, etc can be taken into effect; thusly, if the sim comes up with a win for player A, but player B did a WHOLE lot of RPing and player A didnt, then I might change the result to favor the player that roleplayed more (or better). See? I will be non-biased and do what is best for plot, and then the players. And anyone caught bringing me tasty cookies or pie as bribes will be shot! I need to lose weight, my doctor says I have a little bit of what he likes to call a 'weight' problem... go figure!

The American Tour

The U.S.E. American Tour travels the U.S. putting on "non-televised events". If a character is on the tour, they are considered 'shelved' and do not count towards your character limit. To place a character on tour, you must notify the CEO. Once a character is put on tour, he/she must remain there for a minimum of 1 month. Also, unless special arrangements are made, when a wrestler is taken off the tour, he/she must remain off for a minimum of 3 months. This is to prevent people "ping pong-ing" characters.

For right now, since our activity level is fairly low, the American Tour events will be run once a month but will incorporate 4 weeks worth of matches; also, while these wresters are on the American Tour, they can gain (not lose) push by having better winning records; kind of a passive benefit to keeping your characters around. Results from the American Tour will likely come in the form of a list once a month of just the matches, and their results.
