USS JASON SHOPS WWII
             SHEETMETAL SHOP
Spot welding machine in use.  When prolonged gun fire tore apart aluminum ventilators, this shop renewed them.  Aircraft carrier ro;;er curtains were repaired and ventalation fan, lockers and
recepticals were made in this shop.
                 CANVASS SHOP
Sailmakers fabricating gun covers.   A large
number of canvas covers ripped apart and blown from ships during typhoons were replaced by this shop.  The manufacturing of essential canvass covers for the fleet kept
this shop busy.
   BLUEPRINT AND PHOTO LAB
Working in the dark, a photographer
is seen feeding wet prints into the ferretype dryer.  During the war this laboratory produced the equivalent of 14, 850 (8x10)  photo graphic prints and 10,800 square feet of bluprints and photocopies.
             SHIPS BOATS
Hoisting portable welding machines aboard damaged ship. Ship's boats work
was day and nite, all kinds of weather.

           SIGNAL BRIDGE
Signaling by flags and signal searchlight.  Twenty-four Sched
send & receive thousands of
messages a week. Half of messages -subject--repair work.
        ENGINEERING DEPT
Evaporators distilling fresh water fro salt water. Millions of gallons were supplied to ships
alongside. Also supplied steam
and electricty to ships.
      MEDICAL DEPARTMENT
Pharmacist's mate on watch in sick bay.  The Medical Dept served
medical and dental to patients
from smaller ships that did not
have Doctors.
         GSK  STOREROOM
A well equiped storeroom. In
addition to tools &material the
SupplyDept. fed, clothed, paid  crew, funished services as tailer,
cobbler,laundry, ship's store
BAR METAL STOREROOM
A storekeeper issuing stock.
Supply maintained constant supply of metal plate, bars etc.,
Motto "A day saved preparing
is a a day saved repairing".
