History of The Alternate Universe

In 2156, the Romulan Empire attacked a number of worlds, on the way to what became apparent would be the conquest of Vulcan. Imperial Terra was able to mount an impressive force to protect Vulcan from the Romulans, and to route them completely in 2160. After doing so, the fleet turned on Vulcan, reducing its defenses and claiming it as a protectorate. The Andorians, a trade partner of both worlds, demonstrated their anger over this action by invading all Terran colonies outplanet from Mars. The response was immediate, as Terra carpet bombed several Andorian worlds, and then destroyed their own colonies in order to destroy the Andorian invasion fleets.

By 2061, the Terran Empire had managed to force the surrender of the Andorians, and claimed their world and colonies, also, as Protectorates.

The remaining near worlds formed a United Federation of Planets, based on Alpha Centauri, in order to queall Terran Empire adventurism and aggression. By 2063, the Orion Colonies had also joined the Federation. An uneasy peace ensued for 35 years.

In 2198, Imperial Terra, with the aid of massive numbers of Andorian shock troops, invades the leading three UFP worlds, through the duplicity of the Orion Colonies. IT forces swept through a dozen worlds, and captured their high orbitals.

The UFP was forced to capitulate to the IT. And in return, IT recognized the UFP, joined it, and through its new Protectorate Members, became the leading political force of the UFP. In another 10 years, it was obvious that most branches of the UFP government were merely puppets of the Terrans. The power of the IT in UFP policies was shown during the Klingon War of 2221-2230, when the IT forced the UFP to invade the Klingon Empire, to 'free the slaves'. The success of the blitzkrieg was incredible, but even the IT realized that it was pushing too hard, and the UFP and the Klingons came to a negotiated peace in 2230, with the Warrior's Accord, which made both galactic powers partners in an aggressive program of exploration and subjugation that started just a few years later.

The next great push for the IT and the UFP was the Second Romulan War of 2267-2273, led by Captain and later Admiral James T. Kirk. The War pushed the Romulans back almost to their capital starsystem, before the Organians stopped it, and forced all three powers into a settlement, the Organian Treaty.

The re-emergence of Khan of Terra, in 2283 was the principal cause of the Federation Rift War of 2283-2286. Khan actually briefly held the UPF and IT capital of San Francisco on Terra, before being killed by James Kirk. Kirk then demonstrated his power as Praetor by destroying the entire Triangle System. Later that year, he and his closest allies saved Terra from some strange aliens by making use of a time trip, to bring whales from the 20th century to the 23rd. He was then able to manipulate the masses and became Emperor Kirk of Imperial Terra, in 2289.

His rule lasted only until 2293, when he was lost during a festival to launch the USS Enterprise-B. He was succeeded by Emperor Arlen Quest, from 2293-2312, who gave up the title to his daughter Rhea to become President for Life of the UFP from 2312-2330.

With the Romulans, Klingons, and UFP working in sometimes difficult alliance, all nearby worlds were found, explored, forced into the three Nations, or subjugated, rather quickly. While Terrans continued to be in the lead of the Federation, over the decades, it policies began to move back toward the original charter. Successive IT Emperors demonstrated effective and well intentioned rule until 2350, when telepath M'Botha M'Benga killed the Imperial family and took over.

The strange events of Khitomer Colony precipitated events leading to the Silent War of 2360, between UFP and the Romulan Empire. This event occurred several months after Howell Bridger helped the new Emperor, a man calling himself Tiberius Artur, showed up on Terra, and made himself indispensable to the Emperor M'Botha. And replaced him.

The war was actually an invasion, aided by the Orions, again duplicitous and working with the IT. In eight months, the Romulans capitulated to the UFP and their entire membership became, with the IT, a Higher Association Member of the UFP. With the two Higher Associations, and the Independents and the Colonizers, the four real power blocks, the UFP gained a rather effective Council, with sound checks and balances. A new Golden Age of science, arts and technology was begun.

And the Klingons were pushed out of it.

Their anger led to the Dominion War of 2370-2375, when they allied with the Cardassian Union, the Breen Sodality, and the Dominion to fight the UFP. They made incredible inroads, but a task force led by Admiral Sisko finally broke and destroyed the Bajoran Wormhole, and another force, led by Ben Braxton, destroyed the Dominion's Jem'Hadar raiders. The war was over within months after that, with the Klingons paying reparations, the Cardassian Union forced into breakup and worlds doled out to major UFP Members as Protectorates. The Breen are in the process of being annihilated by a Planet Cracking Fleet. Bajor has been occupied heavily, and is being 're-educated' under a plan started by IT Grand Inquisitor and UFP Admiral Howell Bridger.

Late in 2375, Ben Braxton, Hero of the Dominion War, led his forces against the rest of the UFP. His forces, and his neck, were broken when Commander B'Elin James betrayed him at what should have been his seminal victory at Andor. Imperial Terra has been reorganized, and the UFP is more than ever under the thumb of the Terrans, their colonies, and protectorates.

After the UFP destroys the Breen, it will turn to the Gorn. And when they are eliminated, the UFP plans the foolhardy invasion and usurpation of the incredibly ancient and powerful First Federation...
