Full Name: Bran Makafin ("McMuffin")
Age: 37r>
Species: Humanoid, from Eminiar VII
Gender: Male
Place of Birth: West Nomansland, Eminiar VII
Birth Date: Sept. 21, 2349
Languages: Federation Standard, Eminiaran, Cardassian
Interests: Family--Parents died in hovercraft accident a few years ago. No siblings. Many cousins.
Born to the heavily populated Eminiar VII, Bran's parents were part of the widespread Negative Population Growth movement. But they made an embarrasing mistake. All of his life, Bran has ben subject to ridicule for that.
But he was a talented student, and a fine athlete, excelling at the sports that required brawn, intellect, and dexterity. He earned a place at Starfleet Academy on his first attempt, at age 17, and completed a rigorous schedule including a number of specialty programs, in four years.
Then, he decided, against all odds and many outstanding offers, to take on, in rapid succession, a variety of odd j obs in out of the way spots regarded as worthless assignments by most. By his third year, he was considered a valuable troubleshooter, and after four years, he could apply for any support position on any ship or base in the Fleet. Which he did, and took an offer from the USS Knight for the unwanted slot of Closed Systems Service Officer, turning down better positions with automatic promotions. He commented, "The Knight is a trouble spot. Gives me a unique chance to play around, do some good. Note also, the CSS subdepartment on a Sovereign-class ship has 36 reports, including 3 officers. Where else can I get such a fundamental command experience and still know how a starship works, from the ground up?"
Lately, Bran took on additional duties in Damage Control and in working with Entor Calsanni on Bridge command. When he showed just how much he knows, he was transferred to the Chief of Communications officer position, and is still lin charge of some combat damage control. He is beginning to be known as the "main desk guy" in the Deck 2 Operations Center./font>
Male, humanoid from Eniminar VII, 6'5", 252 lbs., black hair, blue eyes, right-handed. Bran is in top condition, and incredibly flexible for his size. He truly enjoys working out, and is often found in the rec areas of the ship, listening to recordings or even with a portable holovid over one eye. He likes working with others, but he finds that they seem to be intimidated by him. Also, nobody but the people doing the work seem to really care about what is happening in the bowels of the ship.
Bran is a top marksman with modern Starfleet weapons, a medal winner in several martial arts, and a strong tactician. He does not especially like combat, but believes that he had better be ready for it.
Bran was named Manbisqit, which on his first day at the Academy, his drill instructor promptly joked about, calling him "McMuffin." He promptly changed his name, to the horror of the drill instructor. A natural student and athlete, the Academy seemed all too easy for him, and his odd, disjointed sense of humor was much in demand.
Bran was a top hockey, basketball, and baseball player at the Academy, and won the Academy Medal in small unit tactics over many classmates with better security training. He simply put together a group of eclectic talents, and took all the admin duties on, himself.
He graduated in Ops with top honors, but chose his odd career path, proving himself an exemplary problem-solver with an odd way of looking at things. His path toward command may be quirky, but he had commented, "Sure. Sure. Everybody wants to show their stuff. I don't see the point. I've got enough stuff already. I like to tinker, try new things. And, gee, if nobody wants to clean the middens, it gets awfully filthy after a few decades, you know?"
Bran has a quiet, off-beat sense of humor. He is also a verbal punster, but tries not to be too awful. He hates to leave a room full of people groaning and retching. If there is a party, expect him to be there. If there is a crisis, expect him to be doing something useful. This man is completely fearless and possibly without guile. Klingons hate him. But, they rarely challenge him. McMuffin sat out the latest spate of practical jokes during the Vortex Blues, but can be expected to be hatching some fun and games sometime in the near future.
After managing the complex communications for Operation: Invasion, Bran was designated "The Voice of God" and W)3 Amanda Marie Foucault, and a lot of other people, refer to him that way in the Knight's e-mail newsletter, the Knightly Rag.
