Dark Men

There are two different meanings to the term Dark Men. One is the Bridger point of view and the other is the Tjorkil set of Dark Men.

The Bridger point of view is thus: The Dark Men seem to be reanimated from the dead, retaining only a whisper of their former personality, and none of the compassion and aspirations of the living. Their origins are shrouded in mystery, but they do seem to have been a fell cult, of the world called Aebrynnis, for thousands of years. Not large in numbers, perhaps as few as 200 at a time, these creatures have somehow been able to project themselves to other worlds, and often seek out those of power who would somehow be turned to their goals, whatever THOSE are.

Even in worlds where magic is unknown, the Dark Men carry a dark majesty with them, and can strike dread into the hearts of others. Typically, these creatures are able to shake off energy weapon attacks below disintegration settings, and take mininal damage from kinetic attacks. They are quite strong, and are not faced with the limitations to endurance of truly living creatures. Their malevolent will is perhaps their greatest power, and they turn this to subverting others, often, to execute their plans.

There are still Dark Men out there, and their plans for the world known as Aebrynnis were shattered by actions of the USS Knight. They can be expected to be out there, somewhere, plotting and planning, and seeking revenge.

The Tjorkil set is as follows: There were fourteen of the forces of light sent to find Captain Bridger. Only Sigmund and Jannika have succeeded. However, 98 others were sent into the Terran Universe to find and kill Bridger and the fourteen "Light Men."

These "Dark Men" are spread out across the Terran Universe, and have devolved into pairs of two, one male, one female. They may have children, as Sigmund found out in the clash in a cave system on Dunnin's World. Those children have been left with deserving families on Aebrynnis, and should not be worried about.

The ninety-four remaining are drawn from all Cerilian races, and should be conceived of as enemies of the Federation's good. Their children should be left out of this fight, only taken to preserve their lives, and doled out to parties that wish them. Nothing else is known at this time about them.
