Born on a Starship. Family moved to Kling to settle down. During Civil war they fled to Federation colony on Mars, Koroth Wasn't educated for 3 years six months after arriving because Koroth challenged the head of College to a duel and although Koroth won it wasn't considered proper conduct and so was expelled.
He did not go to the acadamy till 2371. The Knight was his first assigment in space. Koroth spend a few years serving in the Klingon Defence Force which he learned logistics skills for running small attack squadrons. He was under the direct command of his father who until Gowron's death was his body guard, disgraced Torg (Koroth's father)sent his son back to the Fediration where his family still resided. During those years in the Klingon fleet Koroth also be-friended the time traveler Jack Black a Half Nausican half Vulcan hybrid who told Koroth that his destiny was within the Fediration. Koroth accepted and followed his fathers wishes leaving the Klingon Defence force. Three days later the ship he served upon was destroyed all hands lost.
